Abstract:

Financial sector is the backbone of any healthy nation. In finance theories it is assumed that

people behave rationally and predictably when it is economic/financial matter. In several recent

studies it is found that male investors are more overconfident than female investors. When itcomes to our financial lives, however, our endearing human emotional biases can have a very

serious negative effect on our long-term financial health. The study of how emotion affects

investing behaviour is called behavioral finance,

Present paper is an attempt to understand psychological aspects in attitude of gender investing

and analyzes whether concern about investment in men and women are homogeneous or not.

Using data for 200 households form Delhi working professionals it has been analyzed that males

will trade more than females. The reason found that female investors appear both to be more risk averse and to have less confidence in their investment decisions than male investors.

Abstract:

One of the important aspects of Human Resource Management is industrial relations. It refers to

be one of the most important in management era. Engineering industry is of prime importance

for economic development of any subcontinent because; economic conditions of a nation areimproved by the engineering industry. The present study focuses on Industrial Relation Practices

in Selected Industrial Units of Ahmedabad and Anand Districts. The research study attempts to

explore industrial relation practices in selected Engineering units of Ahmedabad and Anand

Districts. This study is concentrated on industrial relation practices practiced by engineering

(industrial) units, particularly in Ahmedabad and Anand Districts. The study revealed that

Working conditions and work environment are healthy and conducive. There was satisfactory

implementation of industrial relation policies and practices. There is significant correlation

between Industrial Relation and Status of discipline. There is a significant level of correlation

 between industrial relation and employees’ satisfaction.

 Abstract: 

Human Resource can play a critical role in the success and failure of Information systems in an

organization. It has been established that even the best of Information systems do fail due to the

neglect of the human factor. According to OASIG Report [1], 80-90% IT projects do fail mainly

due to neglect of human factor. Therefore, in this paper an attempt has been made to propose an

Artificial Neural Network(ANN) based approach that help us to study the failure/success of the

Industry due to Peopleware(Human Resource) for an Information system. The study is

particularly important because most of the studies make use of conventional approaches having

their own limitations such as following an algorithmic approach. The ANNs do not suffer from

such limitations and they process information in a similar way the human brain does. Neural

networks learn by example. Thus this approach is likely to provide better results as it is done

using the MATLAB R2007B programming by Neural Network programs. Hence, such a study

will be of great importance with respect to the Indian Industry.

Abstract:

Retailing is the largest private industry in India and second largest employer after agriculture.

The sector contributes to around 10 per cent of GDP and 6-7 percent of employment. With over

15 million retail outlets, India has the highest retail outlet density in the world. This sectorwitnessed significant development in the past 10 years from small unorganized family owned

retail formats to organized retailing. Liberalization of the economy, rise in per capita income and

growing consumerism have encouraged large business houses and manufacturers to set up retail

formats; real estate companies and venture capitalist are investing in retail infrastructure. Many

foreign retailers have also entered the market through different routes such as wholesale cash-

and-carry, local manufacturing, franchising, test marketing, etc. With the growth in organized

retailing, unorganized retailers are fast changing their business models and implementing new

technologies and modern accounting practices to face competition.The present paper analyses the

perceptions of foreign Retailers regarding Indian Retail market and emerging sceniario in retail

sector.

Abstract:

India is a largest democratic country in the world. The smooth functioning of a Democratic State

requires strong Democratic Institutions in the country. Elections are backbone of a Democratic

State. In a democratic country the people elect their representatives and leaders by elections. InIndia elections are held from Nyaya Panchayat in a village to Zilla Parishad in a District, to

Legislature of a State and to the Parliament of the Nation. The strong Democratic Institutions in

the country require free and fair polls. Free and fair polls are the prime responsibility of the

Government, so that a common man can cast his vote without any fear. Election is the most

important activity in which the entire Government machinery is involved in conducting free and

fair polls. The Government delegates this responsibility to the District Administration. The

District Administration is the responsive nodal agency between the common man and the

Government. The entire election process proceeds in a step by step and time bound manner and

all the steps involve a lot of paper work in the present set-up, which burdens the clerical staff a

great deal.

Abstract: 

Facial recognition systems are computer-based security systems that are able to automatically

detect and identify human faces. These systems depend on a recognition algorithm, such as

eigenface or the hidden Markov model. The first step for a facial recognition system is torecognize a human face and extract it from the rest of the scene. Next, the system measures nodal

points on the face, such as the distance between the eyes, the shape of the cheekbones and other

distinguishable features. These nodal points are then compared to the nodal points computed

from a database of pictures in order to find a match. Obviously, such a system is limited based on

the angle of the face captured and the lighting conditions present.

Abstract: 

In 1984, Roger Enrico published, “The Other Guy Blinked: How Pepsi Won The Cola Wars” in

which he participated as the CEO of Pepsico USA. In his book, Enrico presented a story of the

commercial competition between Pepsi Cola and Coca Cola companies which he conceptualized

with the metaphor of war.

By participating in a language game, social actors pragmatically coordinate their activities

through the language they use. The author studied Enrico’s book and looked into the functions

of metaphors and metonyms in three different levels: The level of the messages that each

company sends to potential clients, the level of messages between the companies and finally the

level of the narrative by Enrico. More specifically, considering these three levels, the author

explained how Pepsi influenced Coca Cola via metaphors and metonyms - especially viasuperstar (celebrity) advertising  –  to make Coca Cola react by changing the almost hundred-

years-old formula composition. Finally, the research highlighted the assumptions and the

rhetorical techniques which may not be known for by Roger Enrico at the time the book was

written.

Abstract:

The present paper explores the role of the study of Human Psychology and Behaviour in almost

all the walks and spheres of human life. One can use the knowledge of different levels of human

psychology and behaviour like infant psychology, child psychology, adolescent psychology,

adult psychology, elder psychology etc. for seeking such proper development and growth of 

human life and society. After providing an overview of the meaning and need of the study of 

human psychology and behaviour, this paper focuses on the main characteristics of the

developmental trend, psychology and behaviour pattern during the different stages of our life –  

infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood and elder hood.
