EXPEDITIONARY STRIKE FORCE(ESF) CONCEPT
• CSG, ESG, SSG’s operate independently.• Join together as an Expeditionary Strike Force (ESF) for
major regional conflict.– Notional ESF consists of a CSG and ESG– Can be augmented with other forces (naval, joint, or coalition).
• The standard “supporting - supported” relationship provides the construct of ESF operations.
• Regional combatant commander, in conjunction with numbered fleet commander, dictates specific organization and command relationships.
Will be exercised July 06
