    The Platform for the Promotion of Multi-original Art organises The Fourth International PrintMaking Biennial in Cacak, in 2020. The Platform, as the coordinator of the Biennale, maintains the previous Biennale’s good practice of:

    •identifying and following contemporary tendencies within the field of printmaking;•endorsing medium expansion including use of modern methods of printing, contemporary technologies and theory concepts;•promoting young authors and their work.

    The Biennial aim is to provide regional and international artists with institutional support for their professional development, to induce and elevate interest in this artistic discipline among other artists and cultural workers, as well as a larger audience.

    GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION.The competition is open to all professional artists, theoreticians and researchers, as well as final year undergraduate students of Faculties of fine and applied arts. There are no thematic restrictions at the Biennail.

    Applicable for the competition are any works created by the use of traditional techniques and modern printing processes. Reproductions, serigraphs and photographs will not be taken into consideration.

    In the first phase of the competition authors are required to:1. Fill in the application form, completely, legibly, and in detail. The form can be downloaded from the official Biennale website, at: http://www.graphicacak.com/konkurs2020/ 2. Convert the reproduction of their artwork into digital files, JPEG or TIFF formats, with the resolution of 300 dpi3. The size of individual files should not exceed 5 MB4. Send all above mentioned documents, the application form and the digital files, attached in an email to [email protected] , titled as: "Registration for the competition Biennial 2020_category_name and surname"5. Application period begins on 128 August 2019 and ends on 1 June 2020.

    The conference segment of the Biennial will consist of academic lectures and presentations. The rules forapplying for participation in this Biennale segment are in the attachment.By submitting an entry, the author gives consent to the Biennial organiser to exhibit, reproduce or publish their work for promotional purposes, without having to notify the author first.The Biennial organiser is obliged to properly name the author in all printed and digital promotional publications.Acceptable for the competition are artworks created within the last three years. The works with which authors had already applied for previous Biennale competitions are inadmissible.All candidates will be notified by email about the results of the first phase of the selections by 15 June 2020, at the latest. The results of the selection and final list of the authors and their works will be published on the official Biennial website and on social networks by 20 June 2020.

    Entry fee is 35 €, which allows a candidate to apply for participation in all Biennial categories. The fee covers all administrative and postal expenses, and it is to be paid in the first phase of the selection.

    THE SECOND PHASE OF THE COMPETITIONbegins on 20 June and ends on 1 September 2020.The authors, whose works successfully pass the first phase of the selection, will be required to send their prints, unfurnished, without a frame or passe-partout, until 1 September 2020, at the latest.The jury, consisting of the exceptional professionals, will make a selection of artworks which comply with the propositions of the Fourth International PrintMaking Biennial . If an original work significantly differs, artistically, esthetically or technically, from the description or reproductions submitted in the first phase ofthe selection, the organiser is entitled to disqualify such work from further process of selection and jurying.Only one's original artwork is acceptable at the competition. Applicants will be solely responsible for any copyright infringement that might occur.Authors send their work by post, with paying attention to the following:1.     By sending in their work, authors consent to the Biennial propositions, which they also confirm within the application form and by their signature.The Biennial organisers will be grateful to the authors who decide to donate their artwork for the Biennial Collection. In order to donate their work, we ask artists to fill in and sign a separate form: "Donation Statement". The donated artwork becomes inalienable part of the Collection and will be used for the purposes of organising periodical theme exhibitions.All the information concerning the Biennial and all the necessary forms can be found on the Biennial website: http://www.graphicacak.com/biennial2020/ The applications and artwork received after 1 September 2020 will not be taken into consideration.

    If necessary, when sending the artwork, state its minimal value. The works should be sent as parcel post or printed matter. Artists are responsible for all postal expenses and are obliged to provide all necessary customs documentation and cover the costs of the service entirely. In the case of failing to follow these instructions, the organiser of the Biennial will not bare any postal service expenses and will not be obligated to any additional engagement regarding the post deliveries which will be, in that case, returned to sender. Art material should be sent in solid packaging, cardbord tubes, or in any other way secured from physical damage. Any damage which may occur during the transport will be noted, photographed and then sent to the author as evidence. The organiser will be responsible for the works' safety from the moment of delivery until they are submitted to be posted back to their authors, and will not be responsible for any damage that might occur afterwards during the transport. All the works will be returned in their original packaging.

    JURYING OF THE SELECTION AND ANNOUNCING AWARD WINNERS will occur during September 2020.

    AWARDS:

    GRAND PRIX OF THE BIENNIAL- cash prize in the amount of 1,500.00 €.AWARD FOR TECHNICAL EXELLENCE - a solo exhibition as part of the accompanying activites of theFifth PrintMaking Biennial 2022.AWARD FOR GRAPHIC ART INVENTIVNESS - Printmaking materials, as chosen by the organiser.SPECIAL AWARD FOR EX LIBRIS - award of the Vladislav Petkovic Dis Public Library. STUDENT WORK AWARD - a plaque and a package of printmaking paper.

    The awards will be presented during the opening ceremony of the Biennial. In the event of an awarded author being unable to attend the awards ceremony, a certificate of participation and an award certificate, with a copy of the exhibition catalogue, will be sent to them by post along with their artwork.

    By sending in their work, authors consent to the Biennial propositions, which they also confirm within the application form and by their signature.The Biennial organisers will be grateful to the authors who decide to donate their artwork for the Biennial Collection. In order to donate their work, we ask artists to fill in and sign a separate form: "Donation Statement". The donated artwork becomes inalienable part of the Collection and will be used for the purposes of organising periodical theme exhibitions.All the information concerning the Biennial and all the necessary forms can be found on the Biennial website: http://www.graphicacak.com/biennial2020/ The applications and artwork received after 15 August 2020 will not be taken into consideration.

    If necessary, when sending the artwork, state its minimal value. The works should be sent as parcel post or printed matter. Artists are responsible for all postal expenses and are obliged to provide all necessary customs documentation and cover the costs of the service entirely. In the case of failing to follow these instructions, the organiser of the Biennial will not bare any postal service expenses and will not be obligated to any additional engagement regarding the post deliveries which will be, in that case, returned to sender. Art material should be sent in solid packaging, cardbord tubes, or in any other way secured from physical damage. Any damage which may occur during the transport will be noted, photographed and then sent to the author as evidence. The organiser will be responsible for the works' safety from the moment of delivery until they are submitted to be posted back to their authors, and will not be responsible for any damage that might occur afterwards during the transport. All the works will be returned in their original packaging.

    JURYING OF THE SELECTION AND ANNOUNCING AWARD WINNERS will occur during September 2020.

    AWARDS:

    GRAND PRIX OF THE BIENNIAL- cash prize in the amount of 1,500.00 €.AWARD FOR TECHNICAL EXELLENCE - a solo exhibition as part of the accompanying activites of theFifth PrintMaking Biennial 2022.AWARD FOR GRAPHIC ART INVENTIVNESS - Printmaking materials, as chosen by the organiser.SPECIAL AWARD FOR EX LIBRIS - award of the Vladislav Petkovic Dis Public Library. STUDENT WORK AWARD - a plaque and a package of printmaking paper.

    The awards will be presented during the opening ceremony of the Biennial. In the event of an awarded author being unable to attend the awards ceremony, a certificate of participation and an award certificate, with a copy of the exhibition catalogue, will be sent to them by post along with their artwork.

    NOTE: In case of extraordinary circumstances, the organiser reserves the right to change the application deadlines or the dates when the Biennial will begin or end. Any potential changes will be announced on this web page: http://www.graphicacak.com/vesti.html

    CATALOGUE: The Biennial organiser will publish a catalogue which will include all the authors that participated at the Biennale exhibitions. All exhibitors will receive a free copy of the catalogue.

  • Academic papers and presentations The Platform for the Promotion of Multi-original Art continues to organize series of panels as an integral part of the Biennial program. The Platform intends to provide biennial meeting point for artists and scholars to discus and exchange ideas about diverse phenomena of printmaking topicality, as well as for the de/reconstruction of the historical and formative circumstances and influences that have reshaped the discipline. We invite artists, art collectives, art theorists and researchers and scholars from different scientific disciplines to submit their proposals in the following categories:

    - Academic papers- Illustrative talks- Poster presentation- Demonstrations

    Proposals of academic presentations, illustrative talks and poster presentations may relate to one of the topics offered:

    - Printmaking as a myth- Printmaking aesthetics, aesthetics in printmaking- Imprint/postprint- Printmaking - event or object- Printmaking as collaborative endeavor - Academic education and professional art practice- Power of the print: artists’ book, fanzines and posters

    Proposed topics are not mandatory but. Candidates can also submit proposals on the subject of personal interest.

    Proposals submitted after the deadline will not be taken into consideration, as well as those previously presented and/or published. Proposal should be sent only in attached forms.

    Presentation should be limited to 15 minutes. Each candidate can submit more than one proposal. All proposals will be reviewed by the members of the Academic reviewer committee. Selections will be confirmed by 15. June 2020.

    Successful candidates will have to submit full papers and presentations prior to the Biennial opening. All academic papers and other presentations will be published in the Proceedings. For the purpose of publishing the length of academic papers should not exceed 3000 words including abstracts, list of literature and endnotes.

    For the purpose of publishing illustrated talk should be adapted in the form of article no longer than 1500 words with selected five quality illustrations in JPG or TIFF digital format with the resolution of 300 dpi (photography, reproductions, charts, diagram, etc.).

    Poster presentation should be vertically orientated and printed in B1 size (70 х 100 cm). For the purpose of publishing poster presentation should be provided in JPG or TIFF digital format in A4 size in the resolution of 300 dpi, with accompanying inscription (author name and surname, affiliation, title of the presentation, etc.).

    For the purpose of publishing technical demonstration should be adapted in the form of short article no more than 500 words with one selected illustration in JPG or TIFF digital format with the resolution of 300 dpi.

    Official language of the conference is English. All proposals must be presented and delivered for publishing in English.

    Technical instructions for articles
