Ο Συγκριτικός βαθμός(Comparative) χρησιμοποιείται όταν θέλουμε να συγκρίνουμε δύο

πράγματα,ζώα ή πρόσωπα κ.λ.π.:

‘Οταν το επίθετο μας είναι • μονοσύλλαβο ή • δισύλλαβο που τελειώνει σε –οw,-er,-y , τότε προσθέτουμε –er + than στο τέλος του

επιθέτου

Π.x.• He is taller than me.

• My car is cheaper than your car.

Εάν το επίθετο τελειώνει σε σύμφωνο+ φωνήεν+σύμφωνο (a,e,i,o,u) (b,c,d,f,g,h,j,k,l,m....)

διπλασιάζουμε το τελικό σύμφωνο και μετά προσθέτουμε την κατάληξη -er

• big - bigger• hot - hotter• thin - thinner

• fat - fatter If and adjective ends with a –y, we change it to –i and add

–er

• happy - happier• funny - funnier• easy - easier• ugly - uglier

Όταν συγκρίνουμε 2 πρόσωπα ή πράγματα και το επίθετο μας είναιδισύλλαβο που δεν τελειώνει σε –οw,-er,-y ,ή πολυσύλλαβο

τότε προσθέτουμε more + adjective + than

• Maria is more beautiful (adj) than Jennifer.  • This book is more interesting than that book.

Εάν συγκρίνουμε τρία ‘η περισσότερα πράγματα, ανθρώπους κ.λ.π.τότε χρησιμοποιούμε τον Υπερθετικό βαθμό(Superlative):

Όταν έχουμε μονοσύλλαβα επίθετα ήδισύλλαβα επίθετα που τελειώνουν σε -y.-er,-owτότε προσθέτουμε the + adjective + –est.

ex:• Red car is the fastest of all / in the

group• Dinosaur is the tallest.

Όταν συγκρίνουμε πάνω από 2 πρόσωπα ή πράγματα και το επίθετο μας είναιδισύλλαβο που δεν τελειώνει σε –οw,-er,-y ,ή πολυσύλλαβοτότε βαζουμε το the most μπροστά από το επίθετο
