INTRODUCTION

Group Technical Director

It seems a long time since we issued our first Crown Paints Sustainability report in 2009 and now, here we are in 2012, sharing our continued commitment to Sustainability with our fourth report.

With each passing year we’ve become more ambitious and the progress of our carbon revolution in 2011 has been no different, no less challenging and that desire to improve will continue into 2012.

A significant change since our last submission is that during 2011 Crown Paints became part of the Hempel Group, a world-leading coatings supplier for the decorative, protective, marine, container and yacht markets. The Hempel philosophy is also based on the belief that the coatings industry can and should contribute to a better environment and they focus on investment in advanced water-based products and innovative ideas to help customers cut fuel consumption, reduce emissions and hit their environmental targets. Hempel are wholly owned by the Hempel Foundation, whose role, in addition to maintaining a sound financial base for the Hempel Group, is a strong commitment to charitable work that supports projects for the common good around the world such as the education of children in need and supporting research into environmentally sustainable technologies. Meanwhile back here in the UK Crown Paints achieved another 4 of our original targets;

Not content to rest on our laurels, we will continue to drive the Crown Paints carbon revolution in 2012 which is witnessed by our new reduction targets of 10% by 2015 and 25% by 2020. Importantly, and in order to fully explore further reductions, we have engaged selected key packaging and raw material suppliers with similar sustainability ethics to join our crusade and these collaborations are a major focus area for 2012.

We are very proud of our achievements over the last 12 months and I trust you will enjoy reading the detail in our Sustainability Report 2011.

COMPANY STORY

Welcome toCrown PaintsCrown Paints, headquartered in Darwen, Lancashire has roots extending back nearly two centuries. Now part of the Danish Hempel Group the company of today is one of the UK’s largest and most successful paint manufacturers.

The breadth of Crown Paints’ portfolio encompasses the professional and DIY user, with brands known for quality and reliability. Our professional finishes – notably Crown Trade, Sandtex Trade and Sadolin – are specified for some of the UK’s most prestigious buildings, while those for domestic use have found favour with several generations of home owners. Always at the leading edge in colour, Crown’s paints and wood stains can be relied on consistently to deliver a little extra both in aesthetics and performance.

We aim to bring colour to life in a responsible and sustainable way and we hope you’ll find evidence of a caring approach as you read these pages.

Through a wealth of experience in research and development our passion is to produce high performing sustainable products at minimal cost to the environment and our mission is to create memorable experiences for our customers.

04

We are all becoming aware that the way we live our lives in the developed world has become unsustainable.

We have to safeguard the future by taking care of the present. As a manufacturer and a corporate member of society, it’s a responsibility we take very seriously.

Paint is a product that actively contributes to sustainability. Without paint and protective coatings, most of the buildings around us would simply rot, crumble and collapse. Paint makes buildings sustainable. It follows that better performing paint offers greater sustainability – and better paint is what we’re about.

I urge you to look at all the things we’re doing to try to realise this aim, including keeping the importance of our highly valued customers and employees at the heart of all our plans.

If you’ve comments or questions of any sort, do please feel free to contact us.

It’s not enough for us to give satisfactory service. We want to give great service which will WOW our customers each time they come into contact with our people and our brands. We want to give our customers great service which they will find memorable, great service which will keep them coming back time and time again, great service which they will want to tell their friends about.

Our manufacturing sites at Darwen and Hull are both ISO 14001:2004 compliant and we strive not only to meet, but to exceed legislative standards in manufacturing and distribution – in fact in everything we do.

Responsiveness to market demands is key to the success of any organisation these days. A big part of our response is an understanding that quality and value are just starting points; customers’ needs and expectations go far beyond that.

Crown Paints’ history The result of a rich mixture of ingredients, the origins of which go back as far as the year 1777 and include not only paint manufacture (a comparatively recent diversification) but also printing and wallpaper production.Crown Paints currently works against a very different backdrop from that which prevailed when paint was first manufactured on the Darwen, Lancashire site over a century ago.

COMPANY STORY

Looking to the futureWe take great pride in the quality of our people and as Investors in People we take seriously the on-going development of our employees. We are also pleased to have been able to take on seven apprentices within our business over the past twelve months.

Upskilling and apprenticeships are something to which we are deeply committed and it’s an ethos that extends well beyond our own business.

For 25 years we have sponsored what is now known as the Crown Trade Apprentice Decorator of the Year and during 2011 we were proud to be a category sponsor for London World Skills, where the best aspiring youngsters from all over the world came together to compete.

Crown Paints is represented by a comprehensive portfolio of brands, formulated according to the varying and specific needs of professional and domestic decorators; high performing paints and wood stains with the potential to add beauty and protection wherever they are applied.

The company’s trade products are available through our own network of 132 Crown Decorating Centres and through a wide range of independent merchants. Products for domestic use can be found on the shelves of major multiple and independent retailers throughout the UK and Eire.

UK Production Sites

Distribution Sites

Crown Decorating Centres

Darwen in Lancashire, as well as being the site for our head office, is where one of our two main production sites is also located, the other being in Kingston upon Hull. National distribution is handled through three distribution centres in Darwen, Kingston upon Hull and Dublin.

07

The quality found in Crown Paints’ brands is the result of tireless research into the best ways to combine raw materials to achieve optimal outcomes. Always with an eye to sustainability, our expert team of research chemists constantly seeks out and exhaustively tests alternative ingredients and technologies, to ensure that Crown Paints’ brands stay at the leading edge and satisfy every demand of the discriminating Specifier.

Inclusive colourThe Equality Act implies a need to cater for people with visual impairments by providing inclusive environments. In practice, this means achieving sufficient colour contrast between surfaces within multi occupancy dwellings and buildings used by the public to assist a visually impaired person to navigate through the space.

Professional colour scheming is a service provided without charge to our professional customers and designing schemes in accordance with legislative requirements is second nature to our colour experts.

THE SUSTAINABILITY TEAM

By Mark Lloyd, Sustainability Manager

In late 2008 I sat down with Brian Widdop and the members of the Sustainability Team and we discussed how we could turn our vision of Crown Paints being able to implement a sustainability programme, rivalling those already in place within some of the world’s top companies, into reality.

“ We did not dare imagine at the time that despite the current world economic situation that has rolled on over the last four years, we would be able to achieve the objectives we set ourselves in such a short period of time, but as Brian has already stated in this report, we most definitely have.

In each previous report I have stated that every Crown Paints’ employee is involved in implementing our earthbalance strategy, no matter how much, or little, they are able to contribute. It is with that focussed support that we can ensure we make a real difference, not only for the company, but also for all of our employees, customers, partners and stakeholders.

Although we have completed the original objectives that we set ourselves in 2009, which is no mean feat in itself, it is most certainly not the end of our sustainability journey, we are simply at the beginning of another exciting and challenging chapter for Crown Paints.

People often ask me to comment on what I believe to be our greatest success so far and, to be honest; there isn’t one project I could single out. Why? Well, what has made me the happiest during the last three years is the way that we have all worked together as one great big team to achieve our targets and the way that cross-functional units have contributed in partnership to try and complete each and every project that they have been involved in.

Those of you that have read our previous reports will notice that we are maintaining our policy of involving our employees from throughout the business to tell you of the work they have been doing, whether that be in relation to Zero Waste to Landfill, Energy Reduction, Carbon Footprinting or becoming involved in community projects. The reason we do this is because we really do believe that its personal and everyone has their own personal reasons for wanting to improve what they do on a day to day basis.”

COMMITTED TO CARBON REDUCTION

CARBON FOOTPRINT

Our carbon footprint ambition

This will be achieved by:

1. Accelerating the carbon footprinting process

to cover every single product we make

2. Providing product level footprint information

which we will share with customers

3. Setting ambitious targets for performance

improvement 4. Partnering with suppliers, retailers and

customers to reduce our footprint together

In our 2010 report we revealed our ambition, which was:… enhanced product knowledge, openness and partnership with consumers, retailers and suppliers, and a firm commitment to reducing environmental impact.

What have we been doing in the last 12 months to help us achieve our ambition? Well, once again we have followed our ambitions and completed a baseline for all of our products, two of which we will share with you in this report.

You will notice as you read the report that even though we set our ambitious 10% reduction target for 2015, we are well on the way to achieve this on two of our products, Breatheasy® Matt and Crown Eggshell, as detailed in the following pages. As we have constantly stated, we are not prepared to just apply this to a few ‘niche’ products, nor are we prepared to compromise the quality of our products in order to achieve our goals.

What we are prepared to do is change the way we do business.

Carbon footprint case studies We have chosen two products to show you how we are progressing, one water-based and one solvent-based:

Crown Breatheasy® Matt (2.5 litre)

A range of easy to use matt paints for interior walls and ceilings. Available in many inspirational shades they’re made with our Breatheasy® formulation so they’re virtually odour free

Crown Eggshell (2.5 litre)

A premium quality, highly durable, washable eggshell finish for interior use. Suitable for use on interior wood and metal

11

2011 Carbon footprint

The result was far better than we had imagined. Due to the work we had completed in 2011 we managed to reduce the carbon footprint of both products by a significant amount.

Crown Breatheasy® Matt (2.5 Litre)

Crown Eggshell (2.5 Litre)

Our 2010 carbon footprint baseline for these products was:Crown Breatheasy® Matt (2.5 Litre) – 3.22 kgCO

2e

Crown Eggshell (2.5 Litre) – 9.92 kgCO2e

The carbon footprint study that we have calculated for these products is in-depth, and it focused upon impact across the board. To give a few examples, the footprinting work analysed:

• How much energy we use and waste we generate in manufacturing.

• How many miles our distribution vehicles cover.

• Where and how our raw materials are manufactured and transported.

• Where and how each can of paint is stored.

• How our paint is used and ultimately disposed of.

It really is a comprehensive insight into the full ‘lifecycle’ of the products, and we have learnt a lot from the study (which we will be referring to in the remainder of this report). So based on the work we have done, how did the carbon footprint for these two products compare when we completed our 2011 study?:

Green Apple awardsIt is gratifying when our efforts are noticed – especially by the very people we seek to emulate – and in November 2011 we were awarded a prestigious Green Apple award.

The Green Apple Awards campaign is run by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-profit organisation that recognises rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world. In November 2011 Crown Paints was presented with its award at the House of Commons.

As well as the Green Apple Award we were also finalists in the Green Manufacturing Awards and the British Coatings Federation Sustainability Awards, again for our Earthbalance programme.

13

Report Focus 2011The remainder of the report focuses on our projects for each stage of the lifecycle; research and development, manufacturing, distribution, use/end of life and the community. As you’ll see, our earthbalance footprinting work has influenced our methods of working at every life-cycle stage.

“Here at Crown, we are really proud of our green achievements and look forward to further recognition in the future.”

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Big formulation changes Crown Paints has made the decision not to focus on one or two ‘green products’, we want to become sustainability leaders and address the issues surrounding every product we manufacture.

By using the footprinter tool and analysing our full product portfolio we have been able to identify that the scale of impact varied greatly between products when considered on an individual basis. Closer inspection identified that those products with a higher individual impact are those usually required to provide a specific level of protection or added functionality. As such they are a valuable part of our product portfolio and play an important role in extending maintenance cycles. By looking at our entire product range, rather than taking each product in isolation, we identified that our high volume products, while they may not have the highest individual product footprint, comprise the biggest part of our footprint as a whole. The decision was then taken to target reductions to those processes and raw materials that influence our footprint in a broader sense.

With this in mind we have been working tirelessly to improve our formulations, starting with our high volume products. During 2011 we reformulated 18 products across all our brands and product types.

15

Working with our suppliers We have already spent a great deal of time talking to our suppliers and learning about their industries. During 2011 we identified five of our key suppliers and started on the journey to improving our understanding of their processes, identifying areas in which we could work together to streamline both parties’ procedures and gather more accurate information.

Understanding how our raw materials are manufactured and transported provides us with the opportunity to challenge ourselves and our suppliers to embrace innovation, measure more accurately and properly track reductions in our carbon footprint.

BREEAMWe are often asked about our compliance with BREEAM and we are always happy to say that our paints are now and have always been compliant with the relevant VOC legislation. If, however, you are looking for a product to apply in more extreme areas which are likely to be disfigured by mould growth on the paint film, for instance humid areas like bathrooms and shower rooms, then our Crown Trade Steracryl Mould Inhibiting range has a proven pedigree in the prevention of mould growth. This helps to create a healthier atmosphere and reduce the need for redecoration. For areas where hygiene is important, Crown Trade Steracryl Antibacterial products have been developed in partnership with Steritouch®. Using Steritouch® silver ion technology they are designed to reduce the growth of harmful organisms such as bacteria whilst remaining safe for even the most sensitive applications.*

New raw materials We are always on the lookout for new and interesting technologies to investigate. The market is flooded with ‘green’ claims, but what makes a raw material truly sustainable? In our search for raw materials that will enable us to reduce our reliance on high impact, non-renewable raw materials, we have found one raw material that ticks all our boxes and, importantly, does not compromise the quality of our products.

Following on from last year’s report in which we mentioned a novel technology we were investigating, we are happy to report that in 2011 we were able to introduce this technology.

Raw material advances As well as looking at new technology, we have also been able to look at existing technology and work with suppliers to be able to adapt it for use in different areas. This has led to a raw material that has long been used in water-based paints to help improve pigment utilisation, being adapted for use in solvent-based paints meaning that we can further improve our efficient use of raw materials whilst maintaining product quality.

* These products are NOT a replacement for normal cleaning and hygiene routines.

MANUFACTURING

Energy and waste reductionsWe feel that the best way to communicate the progress we have made in Manufacturing would be simply to show you graphically. Apart from the odd blip (we can’t always get it right!), you will notice that year on year we have managed to perform more efficiently. Does that now mean we can stop trying so hard? Definitely not! 2012 will see us implementing our green value stream mapping programme throughout our sites and that’s when the interesting work really begins.

16

Energy

We can demonstrate an 11.9% reduction in gas usage since 2008.

2011 has seen an excellent 14.6% reduction in electricity usage since 2008. Already exceeding the 10% energy reduction target for 2012.

WasteDuring 2011 we were working hard towards our target of zero waste to landfill in 2012. We have achieved a 10.5% reduction in waste generated through manufacture and 87.9% was recycled. Waste to landfill has been reduced by 33.7% since 2008.

More sustainable procurement2011 saw the introduction of new drink vending machines which have a sleep mode for the boilers that virtually eliminates heating water unnecessarily during out of office hours. A new fleet of photocopiers will further reduce the number of desktop printers and fax machines in the company. The zero waste to landfill will make a significant saving in our CDC network by terminating the waste contract on a UK scale. By October 2012, it is intended that the Darwen site will be self-sufficient in its site heating with the installation of steam boilers that will be fuelled by bio diesel supported by mains gas.

Finally, discussions have already begun with the new office supplies company to introduce a cradle to cradle approach on copier paper and the initiative is to reduce stationery deliveries from daily to twice per week. There is much to look forward to during 2012.

Pumping v air pressure

In the Solvent plant we have always used air pressure to move the intermediate white paste product from the 40,000 litre storage tank to the weigh tanks. On average the tank is pressurised 4 times a day. This means the tank has to have approximately 28,000 litres of air put into the tank before the product will start to move out of the tank.

To move 2,000 litres of product you would need 30,000 litres of air tank pressurisation. By using an air pump to move 2,000 litres of product this is reduced to 2,000 litres of air. This has provided not only energy savings but reduces manufacturing time.

Our journey towards Zero Waste to LandfillOne of our objectives for 2011 was to implement ‘Zero to Landfill’ across all of Crown Paints, including two production sites and our network of Crown Decorating Centres.

Having already witnessed the benefits of utilising our transport fleet to backhaul our used packaging waste streams to one central location since 2009, we then considered how we could best expand this system to incorporate our general waste.

We recognised the need to choose the right waste management company as a partner to help us to achieve our aims of:

• Zero waste to landfill

• Efficient cost control

After a number of trials with a selection of waste contractors, we chose a company who shared our vision and, importantly was able to process label backing, (a waste we generate as part of our activity). In late 2011 we realised our ambition and our waste was approved for use as a ‘Refuse Derived Fuel’, in the form of a small wood like pellet, used to burn as a fuel for Energy from Waste plants.

To believe achievement of Zero Waste to Landfill is just a matter of switching waste contractors, would be a gross over simplification. This project brought with it a host of challenges including waste segregation and handling, changed working practices, training and communication and a degree of initial investment.

Was it worth it? Without a doubt.

Case Study

19

Michael KielyDublinIn last year’s sustainability report I wrote about how we were looking at LED Lighting as an alternative to traditional T8 or T5 Florescent tubes as LED lights use approximately 50% less energy and they last almost 13 times as long for the same brightness. I also wrote about how we were looking to improve our warehouse heating efficiency and thus reduce the use of heating oil. A full year has now passed and the results have been significant.

In relation to our heating oil we have managed to reduce our usage by a massive 24% by involving our employees and trialling different methods to assess comfort levels of working temperature, whilst at the same time improving our thermostatic controls. This improvement has also come at a time when the cost of heating oil in Ireland has risen by 23% thus making this project even more valuable to the Company both for now and for the future.

“We are proud to announce that we met our Zero Waste to Landfill target 12 months ahead of schedule.”

Improved logisticsOne initiative introduced during 2011 was to improve vehicle utilisation by the use of double decker trailers. This allows much larger loads on the trailers and therefore significantly reduces the number of vehicles on the road and the number of journeys required. We are looking forward to seeing the carbon footprint savings that this produces as we calculate our latest portfolio footprint.

Third party transport Another improvement made to our distribution network was to join forces with a transport provider who has taken over deliveries to some of our more remote customers. This means our products share trailer space with other goods which are being delivered to the same locations and therefore reduces the number of vehicles on the road.

20

DISTRIBUTION

21

Vans with tracker systems As our delivery van leases come to an end and they are replaced with new vehicles, we are ensuring that the new vans are fitted with an electronic tracking device. The actual devices are supplied by a company called Aeromark and they operate in conjunction with Orange Mobile. The devices use a combination of GPS (to track vehicle movement) and Orange Mobile phone technology to send the data to a central point. At the end of 2011 63 vans had been installed with tracking out of a total fleet of 105 vans.

We are still developing our monitoring activity but are confident that once we fully understand our vehicle journeys, we will be able to reduce journey distances thus reducing both fuel costs and carbon emissions. The installation programme will not be completed until the end of 2013 but with our fleet of vans travelling in excess of 2 million miles per year, there has to be significant potential.

Paper pallets Believe it or not our warehouse facilities have been trialling pallets made from paper. The pallets are strong and meet the required standards despite being only made from recycled waste paper. These pallets are up to 80% lighter than standard wooden pallets which will reduce fuel costs and cut emissions. Another advantage is that they are not susceptible to contamination unlike the wooden pallets, which sometimes have to be fumigated and of course, they are totally recyclable when they reach the end of their life.

Did you know?“Our distribution network has joined forces with a transport provider

who has taken over deliveries to some of our more remote customers, giving a more efficient and sustainable service.”

CROWN DECORATING CENTRES

22

CDCsThere are currently 132 Crown Decorating Centres (CDCs) in UK and Eire and the devolved nature of the network presents us with opportunities. Seldom are these opportunities easy to realise but it does tend to make life all the more rewarding in instances where we are able to achieve success.

We are constantly surprised at the enthusiasm and commitment to ecological issues that our CDC colleagues display. In one way this makes life easier as so many people are happy to ‘buy into’ ecological concepts and trials. Yet strangely this can create problems insofar as many colleagues would like us to develop sustainable initiatives at a faster pace! Unfortunately, real world constraints frequently get in the way of developments and it is our challenge to work around these in order to maximise the benefits to both the company and our environment.

Zero to landfillAs part of the company wide initiative, the CDCs achieved the accolade of zero to landfill by the end of 2011. Since 2010 much of the waste generated by the CDCs has been segregated into specific waste streams and returned to our Warrington Distribution Centre by CEVA Transport.

The final piece in the jigsaw was to deal with the remaining waste which was basically kitchen/general waste. We agreed that this would be bagged separately to the other waste and also sent to Warrington where it would be collected by the Centrol Recycling Group who initially extract any recyclable waste with the remaining waste being converted to fuel pellets.

The results are ‘win/win’ with cost savings in waste disposal and zero to landfill!

So what do our colleagues have to say about zero to landfill?

Leeds CDC

In 2011 we carried out a planned refurbishment at our Leeds

store and part of the work required the fitting of a completely new

lighting system. Through a series of contacts I was able to establish

a dialogue with a sales development manager at Philips, the

well-known lighting manufacturer.

Things quickly developed and it became apparent that Philips were

keen to use us as a case study and offered to supply us with 140

‘Energy saver fluorescent light tubes’. These lighting tubes use

30% less energy than standard fluorescent tubes whilst emitting the

same light levels. In addition, the technology used means that the

tubes will last 3 to 4 times longer.

In many of our stores, the lights are installed at height and dedicated

access equipment frequently needs to be hired at times of

replacement; longer lasting tubes will minimise this effort.

So, have we achieved any savings?

Yes… Much of the electricity consumed in CDCs is used for lighting

and the Leeds store is now consistently giving an approximate 22%

reduction of electricity consumption.

Case StudyIt would not have been possible to return any waste streams to Warrington DC without the assistance and commitment of CEVA Logistics.

The Crown Paints ‘zero to landfill’ strategy is an excellent example of how CEVA’s infrastructure can be used to support greener solutions.

Yvonne Furness – CEVA UK HSE Manager

Alternative routes to market

This year, Crown Paints will be working in close partnership with WRAP and Groundwork to deliver a significant reduction of packaging via new concepts on routes to market. There is much enthusiasm and a great energy behind the partnership that is supported at board level. Obviously we cannot reveal too much about this project at the moment but we will be reporting on this project extensively during 2012.

Paint amnestyDuring 2011 we trialled a paint amnesty programme where we opened up our main sites for people to return unused paints in return for the chance to enter a prize draw. The returned paint was used for many community projects and we also invited in Painting and Decorating students from Accrington College to come in and show us their artistic skills by painting canvasses, which were then auctioned throughout the Company. As well as unearthing some budding Picassos we also raised much needed money for our chosen charities

In 2011, the committee decided to ask employees to nominate charities that were personal to them. A good response was received and seven charities were selected on a regional basis across the UK and Ireland.

One charity in particular was very personal to one of our employees and was selected as the Ireland charity for 2011.

Why did the committee choose this charity? Donal Quinn, Operations Manager of Crown Paints in Ireland put forward a nomination to support a charity named The Ronan Quinn Memorial Fund. The fund was set up in memory of Donal’s son Ronan.

Crown Paints launched “It’s not just Charity its Personal” campaign in 2011. A number of applications

ApprenticeshipsInvesting in the future

As a business we recognise the importance of investing in the future of young people within our local communities.

In 2011 we extended the opportunity to seven young people to take on an Apprenticeship at Crown Paints. We now have a total of fifteen Apprentices across the business in Production and Engineering at both our Darwen & Hull sites and at various branches within our Crown Decorator Centre network.

Speaking on behalf of Crown Paints, Rebecca Hindle said “We have a real commitment to supporting young people in our communities and see the investment in Apprentices as an investment in the future of Crown Paints”

In 2011 we became a founder patron of a new initiative called Blackburn Youth Zone. The new state of the art facility provides world class equipment, cutting edge resources, tailor made sports and arts programmes and extensive mentoring and personal support with a view to offering local young people opportunities and a safe environment to socialize.

Why we got involved? Our HR & Legal Director, Graham Haworth has been instrumental in establishing the partnership with Blackburn Youth Zone. He says …

“ With our hearts firmly in Darwen, we thrive on supporting local initiatives that will benefit future generations in this area. We strongly believe in nurturing young talent, which prompted us to get involved with the Blackburn Youth Zone initiative. We are confident that this worthy project will meet its goal of turning around the opportunities of young people in the Blackburn and Darwen area, and we are delighted to be supporting them along their journey.”

were submitted to be the chosen and I was thankfully fortunate to be nominated as the Irish recipient. The charity I chose was Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital which has a personal significance to me. Our son Ronan passed away in 2003, aged 15 months and 10 days after a long battle with Cancer and during his illness he was cared for by the Oncology team in Our Lady’s.

Our Lady’s Hospital is the National Referral Hospital for sick children from all over Ireland and is home to the country’s only Paediatric Oncology Unit. With over 150 new cases diagnosed per year and to continue providing the best possible treatment and care for our seriously ill children, the Unit is continuously under pressure for funds. Current and ongoing fundraising projects include upgrading ward facilities, purchasing vital life-saving equipment and

ongoing research into the cause, care and prevention of cancer and leukaemia.

Two separate events which were inclusive to all members of staff were set up. Firstly, a race night, then followed by a charity golf day in September. These events proved to be very successful and were extremely well supported by staff in Ireland raising €12,000 in total.

My wife and I are extremely grateful to all members of staff at Crown Paints for the time and effort in organising both of these events. It means a lot to us to be able to keep Ronan’s memory alive through helping others within Our Lady’s

In addition to the €12,000 raised in Ireland, a further £20,000 will be donated to the charities selected from employee nominations.

Crown Paints Darwen Community Awards SchemeIn 2011 the belief that charity really does begin at home led Crown Paints to re-engage its support for the local community in Darwen where the Company has its headquarters. Crown had been a supporter of a similar scheme some years ago.

The ‘Crown Paints Darwen Community Awards’ scheme, jointly funded by the Town Council, was established to assist local organisations with projects of benefit to the community. Posters around the town invited interested parties to apply for funding from the scheme and during the year over twenty-one organisations became recipients of cheques ranging in value between £250 and £1,000. The picture shows a selection of them celebrating at the town’s Gala Day celebrations.
