Product & Services CLEANING

All pipeline & piping systems require some degree of cleaning prior to start-up.Cleaning Methods: utilize water, chemical, air, steam or a combination thereof, to achieve the desired cleanliness of pipeline or piping internals.Thus using both engineering and economics the proper balance between each aspect of the cleaning process may be achieved in order to yield the greatest overall benefit in the quickest possible period with minimum resources.Whether your pipeline will carry crude oil, refined products, natural gas, or high purity petrochemical products we have an array of services to ensure your pipeline is put in service in the best possible condition, assuring you of a trouble free start up, and minimizing operational problems.

Product & Services HYDROTEST

Hydro-testing of a pipeline is carried out mainly to check the integrity of the pipeline and ensure that the pipeline can be operated at its Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP) and is free from any major defects which could affect the pipeline during operation.It is the most conventional and economical method to test pipelines before operations.Saudi Sam maintains an extensive inventory high pressure positive displacement pumps break tanks, test end, temperature and pressure monitoring/ recording instruments and has the experience to operate them efficiently.Depending on the length and diameter of the pipeline, being tested the appropriate pumps and equipment will be dispatched to the site to ensure that the pipeline is tested with the highest level of accuracy and precaution.

Product & Services DEWATERING

Process of dewatering is to remove the test water from the pipeline prior to drying. After the hydro tests, The Best dewatering Methods leaves A film Of water clinging to the inside pipe wall.So therefore, it is necessary to remove this Water to eliminate the formations of Hydrates and the possibility of the onset of internal corrosion causing carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide or to meet the moisture specifications for the delivered product.The pipeline is usually dewatered using a multi-scraper train propelled with air.If the line is to be subsequently dried, it is beneficial to use dry air or nitrogen for this process.For pipelines that have been filled with seawater, or other non-potable water, the line may also be swabbed with fresh water to remove salt deposits and other contaminants.Several slugs of fresh water will be run between scrapers at the front of the dewatering train, followed by additional scrapers in the dewatering train to ensure maximum bulk water removal.

(Air/Nitrogen)

To maintain purity of the product transported through a pipeline there are specific requirements regarding the maximum allowable content of water within the line.So drying is mandatory before commissioning especially for dry service products.Saudi Sam has the experience and expertise to ensure that your pipeline will meet or exceeded the drying specifications in the least amount of time at the lowest possible expense.Saudi Sam is able to design and implement the best possible drying program/method/schedule that confirms exactly to client specifications.Saudi Sam provides three methods Air Drying, Drying using Nitrogen and Vacuum Drying to dry the pipeline.The dry air absorbs water left by the dewatering operation. Nitrogen has dew point of – 40 °C and used as drying medium.Vacuum drying is the removal of free water from a pipeline by reducing the pressure in that pipeline.

Product & Services NITROGEN PURGING / COMMISSIONING

Prior to the introduction or removal of flammable gases or liquid to/from a pipeline, vessel or pipe work system, it is standard practice to render the atmosphere within the equipment incapable of supporting combustion. There are three basic ways of purging a system with nitrogen: Displacement Purging (at atmospheric pressure), Pressure Cycle Purging and Vacuum Purging.

The major category of chemical cleaning is pre-operational chemical cleaning—part of pre-commissioning or commissioning activities.

Pre-operational chemical cleaning is performed to remove any foreign material remaining from construction activities during either the pipe or system fabrication. Major considerations in the pre-operational phase include mill scale, corrosion products, weld scale, oil, grease, sand, dirt, temporary protective coatings, and other construction debris.
