The company was formed in 1987 with the key purpose: to supply the mining industry and private sector
with a large variety of general engineering, machining, boiler making and structural steelwork products and
equipment. The company can produce steelwork of ± 130 - 180 tons and plate work of ± 60 - 80 tons per
month. In addition the company also provides steel erection services. The company applies quality
assurance SABS ISO 9001 in production and installation, ISO 18001 in quality and 14001 environmental
management.

Fabrication and manufacturing work: fabrication of metal
by cutting, bending, and assembling processes in that
cutting is done by sawing, shearing, or chiselling (all with
manual and powered variants); torching with handheld
torches (such as oxy-fuel torches or plasma torches); and
via CNC cutters (using a torch). Bending is done
hammering (manual or powered) or via press brakes and
similar tools. Assembling (joining of the pieces) is done
by welding, binding with adhesives, riveting, threaded
fasteners, or even yet more bending in the form of a
crimped seam. Structural steel and sheet metal
represents the starting materials for JDW fabrication,
along with the welding wire, flux, and fasteners that will
join the cut pieces. The Fabrication shop and machine
shop have overlapping capabilities, but the fabrication
shop generally concentrates on metal preparation and
assembly as described above.

The Structural design office was established in 2004, which allows JDW to be flexible and yet practical
in the structural design and construction environment. JDW merges it’s current professional
engineering design expertise, and dynamic professionalism with a history of excellence in a range of
completed projects of international standard. The office is a streamlined approach with an ability to
mobilise resources and coordinate complex professional teams internally and externally, giving JDW
the capacity to tackle projects of any scale and complexity. JDW makes provision for comprehensive
civil engineering work through the professionally registered civil engineer within the company
employment structure. This provides in depth expertise within all Civil Project Management areas.

sand blasting, painting bay, 3 x Overhead cranes Mobile cranes All terrain 20t, 30 t en 25 t, Horse en
Trailer, 10 ton, 7 ton and 4 ton trucks, 3 x rolling machines (German), 5 x HD cutters (medium to large),
8 x Coded Welders , 3 x Heavy Duty guillotine press machines, 1345m² of workshop space, Rhino strap
