Through staff excellence and sound corporate governance we convert engineering concepts into reality.

The company was formed by Basil Kantey in 1953. Since then we have built up a long history of successful projects across Africa;

serving our clients from the major centres in South Africa.

Our company is specifically structured to enable us to undertake large scale projects, yet remain small enough for the principals to

maintain a “hands-on” involvement in all projects. Our tailor made services are designed to meet the specific requirements of our

clients; ranging from technical advice to a total design and construction package.

Kantey & Templer is currently a Level Three Contributor with a 110% Procurement Recognition Level.

Kantey & Templer has developed its Black Economic Empowerment policy for a broad-based approach as required by the

Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act and the Construction Sector Code of Good Practice on BBBEE and Built

Environment Professionals (BEP) Generic Scorecard. This has enabled us to follow a variety of empowerment initiatives to achieve

our goals.

While attention has been given to ownership by Black people from within our company, their advancement to contribute a

meaningful role in the management of the company has also progressed well. This has led to considerable achievements being

made in the area of employment equity. Nearly 40% of our staff are from Previously Disadvantaged communities.

Human Resource Development and Enterprise Development are two other areas where considerable success has been achieved.

In these two elements some of the indicator compliance targets have been exceeded and hence maximum recognition has been

achieved. Kantey & Templer has developed their own staff through bursaries and internships to leave a lasting legacy in our

profession.

Kantey & Templer continues to strive to improve its BEE rating in terms of the BEP

Generic Scorecard, for the benefit of Previously Disadvantaged Individuals as well

Kantey & Templer award bursaries in excess of R900,000 per annum on average for study at tertiary institutions in South Africa.

Some 80% of this amount is awarded to historically disadvantaged individuals.

The Kantey & Templer Bursary and Educational Assistance Scheme has been created to provide financial assistance for the study

of civil, mechanical and electrical engineering at tertiary level for persons who, through proven academic performance and personal

circumstances, are considered deserving of support. Applications from previously disadvantaged individuals are encouraged.
