MINIMAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

The technical and design strategies implemented in the new chromium coating plant, often sacrificing short-term financial interests for long-term gain, are clear proof of the company’s conviction that a quality product is an environment-friendly product. The chromium coating plant is unique of its kind in Italy and only the third in Europe. The entire plant is about 3,200 square metres in area, has an acid-proof floor covering and is equipped with emergency spillage collection tanks. It is designed to provide completely safe, fume-free working environments, very low atmospheric emissions, and no effluents, since all wastewater is fully treated and recycled. With this innovative plant, the company takes a further step forward towards 14000/Emas certification, better known as environmental certification. It is an impressive target for the galvanic coating industry, normally closely associated with pollution.

UNBEATABLE CORROSION-RESISTANCE

The chromium-coating process takes about 2.5 hours. The effectiveness of the particularly thick galvanic coating, already assuring exceptional resistance to corrosion, is further increased by the specific type of materials used in the layers of the electroplating process, including copper. The microcracked trivalent chromium particles enclose the piece like an impermeable sheath, giving it compliance with the UNI 9948 standard and guaranteeing unbeatable protection against attack by atmospheric agents and all iron corrosion factors. The finish, patented under the name of Crominox, also gives the finished item corrosion-resistance very similar to that of steel.

LEADERSHIP IN TECHNOLOGY

Our technology is fully computerised and capable of strict, precision management of processing, quality and safety, monitoring all parameters before, during and after the production stages. The chromium coating process involves electroplating with trivalent chromium, instead of the traditional processes that use chromic acid and hexavalent chromium. The treatment includes a preparation line (rough finishing and pickling of the piece) to remove all waste, and a 4-phase galvanic coating cycle.

CROMINOX and STYLINOXA NEW ERA IN COATING

With 1500 hours of testing in a saline fog chamber, the finishing coating patented with the name of CROMINOX ° and the subsequent coloured variant called STYLINOX, which combines galvanic plating with clear plastic coating - offers excellent corrosion-resistance and gives the finished product two special technical features:

SOFTNESS AND DELICACYThe difference is only noticeable to the touch, because of the pleasantly soft sensation provided by clear plastic coating with polymer resin, which gives the product impressive noise-damping properties.

ANTI-SLIPItems placed inside pull-out fixtures are retained by the mechanical grip of the coating’s surface, with no tipping or knocking of contents even during use of the component.

This is achieved through COMPAGNUCCI technologies, developed and produced with special attention to the relevant safety and environmental regulations.As the diagram below shows, this treatment, known as CROMINOX-STYLINOX, comprises a galvanic process with application of two layers of metal nickel, acid copper and environment-friendly chromium, followed by dipping in a polymer resin COMPUREX.There are two basic types of problem with every plastic coating: mechanical adherence and environmental impact.COMPUREX solves them both.Developed by Compagnucci research, COMPUREX not only retains the excellent mechanical adherence and corrosion resistance properties of conventional PVC, guaranteed by tests lasting 1500 hours in saline fog chambers, but actually improves them by replacing the components that involve risks for both the finished product and the production process.While ensuring full protection for the coating and total plastic-metal compatibility, the new procedure eliminates the components called phthalates, responsible for unpleasant smells, and replaces them with risk-free alternative compounds, also used for the manufacture of medical products.This achievement once again places COMPAGNUCCI SPA at the leading edge of research in the industry.

Fully pull-out structure designed for quick assembly by both industrial and tradesman end-users. The 3-rail runner system, the door-frame anchor bracket allowing 5 different adjustments to the door position, and the Self Soft Closing system, have all been designed and industrialised by the Compagnucci R&D department.All details of every finished product are tested prior to packaging and shipment to the customer.
