1.1 General instructions
WarningBefore undertaking installation and maintenance work, switch off the following:
S the compressed air supply
S the operating voltage for the field bus node (pins 1 and 2)
S the operating voltage for the CP output modules
You thereby avoid:
 uncontrolled movements of loose tubing
unintentional movements of the connected actuators
undefined switching states of the electronic components
CautionThe node of the CP system contains electrostatically sensitive components.
S Do not, therefore, touch any components.
S Observe the regulations for handling electrostaticallysensitive components.
You can therefore prevent damage to the electronic components on the node.
General information on installing the CP components can befound in the CP system" manual.

1.3 Setting the valve terminal address and baud rate
1.3.1 Setting the valve terminal address
The valve terminal address is used to determine the RIOaddress (rack address and I/O module). The determined RIOaddress depends on the dimension of the respective valveterminal, i. e. quarter or half rack. Tables for the setting ofthevalve terminal address in comparison to the RIO addressyou can find in chapter 2,"Commissioning".
The switches are numbered from 0...9. The arrow on theaddress selector switches indicates the units or tens figure ofthe set RIO address.

1. Installation
1−7Festo P.BE−CP−FB08−03−EN en 0802e
We recommend that the RIO addresses be assigned in ascending order. You should also adapt the RIO address assignments, if necessary, to the machine structure of your system.
1. Switch off the operating voltage.
2. Assign an unused RIO address to the CP−System (seechap. 2).
3. Use a screwdriver to set the arrow of the appropriate address selector switch to the units or tens figure of thedesired RIO address.

1.4 Field bus interface
There are two connections on the node for connecting the CPsystem to the RIO net work. One of these connections is forthe incoming line, the other is for the continuing line. Thesignal cables for both plugs are connected internally witheach other.
Connecting variants Looping the RIO cable from node to node. Both plugs arerequired here.
Connecting the RIO cable by means of a T−adapter. Onlyone plug is required here.
CautionBranches (e.g. T−adapter) cause signal reflections, undercertain circumstances, if used with high baud rates. Thiscan lead to telegram faults" with the valves failing" forshort periods.

Install a suitable terminating resistor in the socket of the incoming RIO cable if the CP system to be connected is at theend of a RIO line (see diagram). Seal the unused plug with aprotective cap. In this way, you can comply with protectiveclass IP65.
Proceed as follows 1. Crimp the wires of the resistor together with those of theincoming RIO cable between the cores S+ (pin 1) and S−(pin 3) of the RIO cable socket. In order to guaranteereliable contact, we recommend that the wires of theresistor and those of the incoming RIO cable be crimpedtogether in common cable end sleeves.

2.1 Preparing the CP system for operation on the RIO network
2.1.1 Operating voltage
Please noteS The CP field bus node must have a separate operatingvoltage supply.
2.1.2 Saving the line assignment
Please noteBefore commissioning the CP system you must first prepare it for commissioning (see CP system" manual).
Before commissioning the CP system on the RIO network proceed as follows:
1. Connect the operating voltage of the node (seeCPsystem" manual).
2. Connect the CP modules.
3. Switch on the operating voltage.
4. Save the line assignment by pressing the SAVE button.
5. Switch off the operating voltage for the node.

2.2 Preparing the RIO network
2.2.1 Compiling the configuration list
Configuration list Configuration of the CP system requires an accurate procedure, as different configuration specifications are some
times necessary for each system due to the modular structure. Before commissioning or programming you shouldtherefore compile a configuration list of all connected field
bus slaves. Some A−B controllers perform an automatic comparison between the NOMINAL and ACTUAL configurationswhen they are switched on. For the configuration it is import
ant that:
S the specifications on configuration are as correct and ascomplete as possible
S the power supply to the PLC and to the RIO slaves isswitched on at the same time or in the sequence specified(see Chapter 2.3).
2.2.2 Switching on the power supply
Common supply
Connect the common operating voltage supply for the controlsystem and all the slaves via a central power unit or a centralswitch.
Separate supply
If the control system and the slaves have separate operating
voltage supplies, switch the voltages on in the following sequence:
1. first the operating voltage for all the slaves
2. secondly the operating voltage for the control system

2.2.3 Address assignment of the CP system
Please observe the following when using the CP system onthe Allen−Bradley RIO network:
Configuration The CP system reacts on the RIO network like a remote I/Oblock from Allen−Bradley. Note the different configuration of
the CP system in the RIO network:
CP system last used string A−B configuration Assigned address range
01 Quarter rack 32 inputs/outputs
23 Half rack 64 inputs/outputs
Please noteWith certain A−B controllers, it is necessary to include theRIO slaves in a scan" list.
Refer here to the A−B documentation.

2.2.4 Addressing
Please noteFurther specifications on addressing and programming canbe found in the PLC manual from A−B.
The inputs/outputs of the CP system are addressed asquarter or half racks like a remote I/O block from A−B. Ad
dressing is composed as follows:

Please noteS With a baud rate of 115.2 kBaud all unused chassismust be set to OFF via SD2. The LED display for Chassis" lights up red (= inactive) on the SD or SD2 adapter.Data transmission functions correctly.
S With PLC controllers you can physically connect maximum 32 modules via one channel to the RIO network.

3.2 Testing the valves
WarningBefore starting the test, switch off the compressed air supply to the valves.
You thereby avoid undesired or dangerous movements of theactuators.
CautionS This test function runs automatically within the CP terminals. All the valves are switched on/off cyclically.
S None of the program−technical lockings or furtherswitching conditions will be taken into account.
Test routine During the test routine of the CP terminal, all the valves willbe switched on and off at 1 second intervals.
3. Diagnosis

Starting the test routine
Please noteIf faults occur when the test routine is started, the greenLED on the node will flash fast. The procedure must thenbe repeated.
1. Switch off the operating voltages (pins 1 and 2) on thenode.
2. Switch off the operating voltage on the output modules.
3. Open the node.
4. Note the position of the address selector switch and theDIL switch elements.
5. Set:
 address: 99
DIL switch elements 1 and 2 at OFF.
6. Switch on the operating voltages (pins 1 and 2).
7. Start:Set DIL switch elements 1 and 2 at ON.
Switch on the operating voltage supply to the output modules.
Stoppping the test routine
1. Switch off the operating voltages (pins 1 and 2) of the
node.
2. Set the address selector switch and the DIL switch elements to their original positions.

3.3 Reaction to faults in the control system
Outputs will be switched off in the following cases:
when there are transmission faults in the RIO network
when the controller is switched from run mode" to
program mode"
 Interruption to field bus cable
CautionThe switch−off reaction differs depending on the softwareversion of the node/valve terminal FB8.
Up to version V1.42 (software status 30.9.96), the outputsare switched off with a time delay dependent on the baudrate setting.
Outputs switched off with time delay when there is a fault
up to version V1.42 as from version V1.5
Baud rate Time−delay switch offof the outputs
