Rosenbauer – CL Compact Line

The pressure on the fires services is growing steadily, for although a decreasing number of fire fighters is available and budgets are shrinking, assignments and operations are becoming even more complex. Accord-ingly, with its Compact Line (CL) Rosenbauer has devel-oped a modern, compact and highly efficient municipal fire fighting vehicle, which due to its light, space-saving sandwich design allows the creation of spacious su-perstructures comprised of thin, self-supporting shells without interior profiles or transverse walls. Moreover, an additional support frame is not required and this provides a great deal of space for the crew and equip-ment, even in the case of a large payload and without sacrificing either safety or performance.

The CL lightweight superstructure is very low profile and compact. This is an advantage in underpasses, low fire-stations, entry gates and narrow streets. Nonethe-less, the vehicle is stable and maneuvrable and Rosen-bauer has set a new benchmarks with regard to form, functionality and design.

Innovative and efficient.

With superstructure. And in an all-wheel drive version.

The CL’s payload capacity is further increased due to extremely light chassis. These are available for standard and special vehicles, e.g. for breathing apparatus or diving equipment trucks. The interior can be individually designed as there are no pre-installed, fixed dividing walls, which means that storage space runs right through the vehicle.

This version is available with all-wheel drive, but in typical CL series manner, nonetheless retains a low equipment removal height.

With the CL, simply more space.

Minimum superstructure weight for bigger crews and more equipment.

Spacious, deep equipment storage compartments. And electric shutters as a standard feature.

As a result of the CL series’ ingenious, modular design system, far greater equipment payloads can be carried in an orderly and safe manner in up to four deep storage compartments. These have no restrictive interior walls or cross members and therefore offer a very high level of interior design flexibility.

Furthermore, the low height of CL superstructures provide an additional advantage, as equipment can be removed in comfort without the need to stand on a footplate.

Modern lighting. Safe use of the roof.

Integrated ambient and rear lighting with modern halogen and LED lights, as well as LED-illuminated press buttons make operations easier in both twilight and darkness.

Moreover, the flat, uninterrupted roof surface can be used to the full and a rear-mounted ladder with roof-mounted handrails ensures safe access.

Rosenbauer – CL Compact Line

The innovative, lightweight CL series superstructures offer a huge amount of space for equipment and the crew. This allows maximum payloads in combination with the highest levels of safety and comfort.

The electric shutters *) installed on both sides and at the rear of the vehicle are a standard feature and allow the press-button closing of the equipment compartments, either externally or from the driver’s cab. Once the vehicle arrives at the scene of an emergency, the driver can there-fore immediately provide access to the large superstruc-ture openings, which saves valuable time and means that the crew members quickly have the entire equipment pay-load at their fingertips. Once the vehicle has been parked, the entire superstructure is closed automatically and thus valuable equipment is safeguarded against theft. *) Manually operated shutters available on request.

COMFORT, the flexible storage system.

The COMFORT storage system, a special Rosenbauer development, is characterized by its safe, simple and ergonomic operation, as well as a comprehensive compo-nent program. The functions of the equipment storage, the handling systems and the equipment supports are per-fectly coordinated for installation in the deep equipment compartments.

Equipment weighing up to 220 kg can be placed on the pullout platform with rotating device. Accordingly, whether a portable pump, generator or another item of equipment is required, during operations this simply involves pulling out, rotation and removal. The platform can also be easily lowered using the fix-mounted, pneumatic, hand lever operated valve.

The COMFORT lowering system facilitates the handling of still heavier loads of up to 450 kg. Moreover, compact solu-tions are available such as modules for equipment, suction hoses or UHPS with water tank, and naturally individual versions are no problem. Pull-out wall unit

An integrated crew cabin for space and comfort during operations.

An integrated crew cabin, either in a 1 + 5 or 1 + 8 version, offers a wealth of space. All the forward-facing seats are fitted with head rests, tested 3-point safety belts on the outside and tested 2-point safety belts on the inside. In addition, up to four SCBA seats, consisting of two facing forwards and two backward facing seats, can be installed, which corresponds with the standard for German fire service vehicles. Fitting in line with the Austrian standard, with comfort seats equipped with three integrated SCBA holders facing forwards, is also possible. Therefore, SCBAs can be simply and comfortably donned during the re-sponse to the emergency scene.

The even, uninterrupted cabin floor and a smooth ceiling are provided for increased safety in low light operations. The interior of the crew cabin is lined with high-quality syn-thetic trim and a resilient aluminum floor for easy cleaning is provided.

Illuminated handrails are mounted on the ceiling and three handrails by the doors provide additional safety. Further-more, equipment can be stashed away in cleverly inte-grated storage spaces such as seat compartments using Sortimo space-optimized, push-action systems, or behind the fold-down steps.

CL Compact Line – Rosenbauer

Rosenbauer’s concept functions in a simple manner. After chassis selection and definition of the requirements related to the new vehicle, an experienced Rosenbauer sales team designs a customized vehicle in close cooperation with the client. Customer interaction during the entire production process ensures a perfectly matching product.

On the basis of our carefully considered CL series, an individual CL superstruc-ture is created with the assistance of innovative 3D CAD technology. Even in the initial development phase, sophisticated tools such as Finite Element Methods (FEM) are employed for strongest design with maximum weight savings.

Once the computer design of the vehicle has been completed, laser-cut and light weight aluminum alloy sheets are mounted on the chassis using modern bonding and bolting techniques in coordinated manufacturing processes. Air-craft style sandwich sheets are then used to reinforce the entire superstructure. Finally, this self-supporting, torque- and corrosion-resistant aluminum and rib design results in a strong, lightweight CL superstructure.

Standardized components are manufactured in continuous and systematically organized processes with quality assurance controls during every phase. Every component matches perfectly and this production approach guarantees uniform quality, professional services and a secure supply of spare parts over a long period.

The N25 normal pressure pump, the constant power.

The single-stage centrifugal pump has a spiral housing, which ensures optimum efficiency, and stands out in particular due to its flat characteristic. Pressure surges caused by the opening and closing of nozzles are minimized. The maxi-mum discharge is 2,500 l/min at 10 bar*).

*) Pump performance is always dependent upon the respective auxiliary drive.

The NH 25 combined normal and high-pressure pump, ready for every emergency.

NH series pumps combine all the ad-vantages of both normal pressure and four-stage, high-pressure pumps, as optimum axial thrust compensation is provided by the juxtaposition of the normal pressure and high-pressure impellers and no separate drive is required for the high-pressure pump.

The flow of water to the high-pressure pump can be turned on or off at any speed by means of a switching valve. Radial impellers make the high- pressure pump impervious to fouling and thus a separate filter system is unnecessary. A flat pump character- istic reduces pressure surges when the HP nozzle is opened or closed and in addition to the performance of the normal pressure pump, up to 400l/min can discharged at 400 bar when using high pressure *).

Mechanical or electronic operation via a control panel is both ergonomic and simple, the displays are clearly arranged above the operating ele-ments. The cost-effective, mechanical FIXMIX foam proportioning system is suitable for installation in this type of pump and offers a choice of three admixing ratios, as well as automatic adjustment to the respective flow rate. An electronically controlled pressurized foam proportioning sys-tem can also be integrated into the pump controls.

The compact dimensions and low weight of the N10 make it unbeatable as an integrated pump. Limited drive require-ments of only 38 kW for a pump output of up to 1,500 l/min

The FOX offers maximum performance at minimum weight.

The portable FOX pump offers output of 1,600 l/min at 10 bar. This maxi-mum output at minimum weight is further supplemented by simple operation via the Rosenbauer Logic Control System (LCS).

20

LCS allows the use of a diversity of pump func-tions, foam proportioning systems, CAFS systems and power generators. The main control path is highlighted in color and runs from top to bottom, which allows operators to logically follow the cor-rect procedure. Moreover, all the controls are back-lit for smooth operation in poor light or darkness.

The H5 high-pressure pump offers extinguishing of the highest efficiency.

Compact dimensions and low weight mean that the power-packed H5 is ideal as an integrated pump and is the automatic first choice for small vehicles. The four-level, high-pressure pump is insensitive to dirty water sources and when fitted in small fire trucks, the H5 can speedily launch a quick attack, especially in combination with a Rosenbauer reel and NEPIRO. The flat pump characteristic prevents major pressure surges when outlets are opened and closed and this relieves the burden on the hose opera-tor. Depending on the pump drive, output up to 400 l/min at 40 bar *).

UHPS provides maximum pressure for high-speed fire fighting.

UHPS is perfectly matched to the needs relating to high-speed fire fighting. The pump can either be powered by a petrol engine or an auxiliary drive and delivers 38 l/min at 100 bar. Exhaustive tests in Austria and the USA have demonstrated the extreme effectiveness of the system. The ultra high pressure of 100 bar provides best water mist at a most effective flow rate ensuring quickest cool down and best cooling performance. UHPS is equipped with a non-collapsible, high-pressure hose as a standard feature and using a combined nozzle, it is possible to select be-tween full and spray jets, and switch over to foam without interrupting the extinguishing process.
