SIMPANAs Funktionalität für Oracle
n Backup und Recovery (RMAN API)
n Replikation
n Quick Recovery = Snapshots
n QSM = Überwachung der Ressourcen im primären und sekundären Bereich
SIMPANA unterstützt
n Full Backup (0)n Incremental Backups (1-4)n Oracle Selective Online Full Backups
• online full backup for selective copy (during an auxiliary copy operation)
• both data and logs use the same storage policy = the same media
• completely self-contained for restore and long term archiving purposes
• data aging rules for selective online full backups are different from regular full backups, as both data and logs are aged together under the same storage policy
The Oracle iDataAgent supports the following types of restores:
n Restoring and recovering individual datafilesn Restoring and recovering individual tablespacesn Restoring and recovering whole databases
n Restores from the Latest Full Backup n Point in Time Restores
• recovers the database to a consistent state at a point-in-time by applying any incremental database backups and Archive logs that have occurred between the time of the full backup used for the restore and the restore itself
n Rename/redirect data during restore n Creation of a Duplicate Database or a Standby Databasen Restores from command linen Restoring control files from autobackupn Windows 2000 to Windows 2003, or Solaris 7 to Solaris 8
New Features –
Oracle iDataAgent 7.0n The Oracle and Oracle RAC iDataAgent now allows you to back up a range of archive log files by
date, Log Sequence Number (LSN), System Change Number (SCN), or special format (using "LIKE" option) from selected destinations. For more information, see "Backup Archive Logs Options".
n The Oracle iDataAgent now allows you to delete a range of archive log files by date, Log Sequence Number (LSN), System Change Number (SCN), or special format (using "LIKE" option) from selected destinations. For more information, see "Delete Archive Logs Options".
n The Oracle iDataAgent can now back up data and archive logs from Standby Databases.
n The Oracle and Oracle RAC iDataAgent now allows you to read data across disks and group them in a backup set using the RMAN disk ratio feature. For more information, see "Advanced Backup Options (Oracle Options)".
n The Oracle and Oracle RAC iDataAgent can now connect to the database for offline backups using the configured connect string in Instance Properties (Details) tab. On disabling this feature, the connection is established using connect /as sysdba. For more information, see "Configure the Lights Out Script to Shut Down the Database for Offline Backups".
n When backing up a data file containing corrupted data blocks, you can now specify the maximum number of database block corruption a backup process can encounter before stopping. For more information, see "Advanced Backup Options (Oracle Options)".
n The Oracle and Oracle RAC iDataAgents for Oracle 10g now provides the ability to back up data from the Flash Recovery Area.
n The Oracle and Oracle RAC iDataAgents now allow you to disable the block size specification, by setting the value to 0, in Instance Properties(Details) tab. In such cases, the default RMAN block size value will be used for backup and restore operations.
n For the Oracle iDataAgent on Unix platforms, performance has been improved for restoring data from multiplexed backups by automatically multiplexing data streams used during restore. For more information, see Multiplex Restores.
