“Lets us give back to the society that made uswhat we are today”

The Water Problem in IndiaIndia ranks a lowly 120th rank in the list of

122 Countries rated on Quality of Potable Water.

Although India has 4% of the World's Water, studies

show average availability is decreasing gradually. It is

estimated that by 2020, India will become a Water-

Stressed Nation. Nearly 50% of Villages still don't

have any source of Protected Drinking Water.

The Rural Population of India comprises

about 700 Million people residing in about 1.42

million habitations spread over 15 diverse Ecological

Regions. It is true that providing Drinking Water to

such a large Population is an enormous challenge.

According to a survey, 80% of

diseases in Rural India occur due to

contaminated Water. Diseases such as diarrhoea,

cholera, E.Coli diseases, etc are very predominant in

Water Quality affected areas.

It is estimated that around 37.7 Million

Indians are affected by Waterborne diseases

annually, 1.5 Million children are estimated to die of

diarrhea alone and 73 Million working days are also

lost. Thus the Health burden of Poor Water Quality is

enormous in India resulting in an Economic burden

that is estimated at 24 Million a year. The problem of

Chemical contamination is also prevalent in India

with 1,95,813 habitations in the Country affected by

Poor Water Quality. The major Chemical parameters

of concern are Fluoride, Arsenic and Nitrate.

Iron is also emerging as a major problem with many

habitations showing excess Iron in the Water

samples. Despite huge expenditures, lack of Safe

and Secure Drinking Water continues to be a major

hurdle and a National Economic burden.

Every Business has a responsibility to give

back to their Community. As responsible Corporate

Citizens, Smaat aims to perform in a Social

responsible way during all times and serve the

Communities of India with Humanity, Sincerity,

Dedication and strive for a better Nation .

Smaat’s Corporate Social

ResponsibilityFor thousands of years, Humanity has

been aware of the importance of Water. C

In Some Countries, it is considered to be

one of the biggest crimes to pollute Water.

Today, in our Advanced and Modern society; we

believe we have to sacrifice everything

including Water of this planet we inhabit in order

to continue the “Progress” and so-called

“Welfare.” We are rapidly destroying

Water's life-giving capacities. Increased

population, Industrial wastes and Agricultural

chemicals are contaminating our Water

sources.

lean

Drinking Water is essential to Human and other life

forms.

The Citizens of our society have

unfortunately lost all respect and deference

towards Water and Mother Nature. Access to Safe

Drinking Water has improved steadily and

substantially over the last decades in almost every

part of the World but not in India

The Core of our Corporate Social

Responsibility programme is our effort in

bringing Healthy Water access to every

Community in India. We demonstrate

Social Responsibility to transform villages

into Model Villages by Empowering them,

providing basic amenities and also

providing urban amenities in Rural villages,

thus emphasizing on Rural Development in

India

Page 3: Community Water Center

“Healthy Water” is the movement word

for all Community Water Centers.

Smaat believes Healthy Water decides

the Standard of Quality of life.

Healthy Water makes a Family

Healthy, every Healthy Family leads to

the growth of a Village; every Village's

growth decides the State's Progress,

and the State's Progress enhances the

Nation's Status. Thus Smaat believes

that providing Healthy Water accessible

to everyone in India, develops our

Nation towards a Sustainable future.

Smaat Community Water Centers
