    The Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Actsays that every10 years an Electoral Boundaries Commission must be struck

    to adjust federal riding boundaries to reflect the changes in

    population in ridings across the country

    In Canada, the Commission is proposing 30 new ridings(338 in total)

    In Ontario, the Commission is proposing 15 new ridings

    The goal is to make the population of each riding equal,

    however ridings can have populations +/- 25% (max:132,766;

    min: 79,660)

    In addition to population equality, commissions mustconsiderother social and geographic factors.

    The Commission may choose to create electoral districts

    whose populations vary from the average, if they consider it

    necessary or desirable to do so in order to:o respect communities of interest or identity (forexample, communities based around language orshared culture and history),

    o respect historical patterns of previous electoralboundaries; oro maintain a manageable geographic size for districtsin sparsely populated, rural or northern regions of theprovince.

    In Malton:

    The Commission is proposing to divide Malton at Goreway

    Drive and Morningstar Drive

    Those to the north and east of these streets will become partof the new riding ofBrampton-Gore

    Those to the south and west will become part of the riding of

    Mississauga-North

    This will mean roughly 11,000 residents of Malton WILL NOTbelong to a Mississauga riding
