Local Government Act (2014)
• Reduction of 26 Councils to 11 Councils by 01 April 2015.
• Increased powers in community planning, planning, urban regeneration and community development, off street parking, economic development, tourism and the power of general competence.
• New Performance Management Regime.
Our Key Statistics• 1,342 square kilometres (approx. 834 square miles)
• A population of 147,720 (8.16% Northern Ireland’s population)
• 40 Councillors elected in May 2014
• One year in shadow operation
• 7 new functions
• Approximately 950 employees
• Combined budget in excess of £50 million
• Proposed capital programme of c£150 million
