2014-15 Flu Immunization Campaign

• Flu immunizations provided at no cost to districts or families in

56 elementary schools

• Elementary schools in 5 school districts

• Over 6500 vaccines given – largest in-school immunization

campaign in state history!

• Senator Kirk Watson kick-off, Vince Young celebrations,

excellent reception by regional superintendents, business and

community leaders

• Supported by St. David’s Foundation, Central Health,

Episcopal Health Foundation, other community groups and

FQHC’s

• Matched school evaluation study on absences currently

underway

2015-16 Campaign

• Larger: 136 elementary and middle schools in 9 districts: Pflugerville, Hays, Manor, Round Rock, Eanes, Del Valle, Lake Travis,

Leander, Austin – QUADRUPLE 2014, up to 26,000 vaccines!

• Better: Incorporate all lessons learned from year 1 on improved

communications, operations, logistics

• Earlier: Will run for 3 ½ weeks covering 136 schools, starting

September 30

• Incorporate consistent branding with other Healthy Schools

programs

• Better communications and outreach to communities and families

• Sustainable business model with Healthy Schools

• Totally integrated with other E3 /CTX School Improvement
