You tell us – it’s your area, it’s your news...

Two Police Officers and a City Council Officer came to talk to us in classabout respecting our neighbourhood. We talked about littering, noise andanti-social behaviour. We then created some posters asking people totake care of their neighbourhood, and the winning four posters will be putup around the community on lamp posts. All the class tried hard to winthe competition.

We tried our hardest to make them bright and colourful and eye catching.Hopefully people will do what they say and not drop litter and cigarettes onthe floor. We really enjoyed the project.

By Shanay Leonardi, Ashley Gough and Luke Ashmore all aged 10

PC Leah Howard said, “The kids were brilliant, they put lots ofthought into how the area could be made a nicer place to liveby them taking better care of each other, their neighbours, andthe environment.”

Councillors Eileen Heppell, JohnHartshorne and Ginny Klein havecontinued with their series of ward walksaccompanying the Neighborhood ActionOfficer and a member of City Servicesand Nottingham City Homes whenappropriate. So far the inspections havecovered Bulwell Hall Estate, SandhurstRoad, Crabtree Estate, most ofSnapewood, and the Cinderhill roadarea. Working with the neighbourhoodteam enables the Councillors to discussthe different issues for different areas.Ginny Klein says: “It highlightsproblematic areas where there is graffitiand fly tipping, the walks allow for thecouncillors to meet with local residentsand to hear their views.”

Change for Bulwell remains significant, the Bulwell Health Centre is nowdemolished and its services moved intotemporary premises on HempshillVale. The building of the Academy is well

on the way and work will begin soon onthe children's play park next to the toylibrary on Bulwell Hall Park.

It has been agreed that the old depot onLillington Street can be demolished tomake way for 8 new build councilhouses which will offer a larger unit for afamily with a disabled member. Thefunding was obtained from the Homesand Communities Agency and the bidwas in competition with many otherAuthorities. All three of your localcouncilors supported the opportunity tohave some more housing on vacantland. The old depot has stood empty forsome time now and attracts much litterwhich becomes trapped in the fencingso it will be good to see it go.
