Committed to Sharing Jesus
WELCOME - A note for friends and visitors amongst us. We are glad you are here with us!
A quick note about the Lutheran Divine service and what we believe about worship. To us worship isn’t so much about what we do, but about what God does. Lutherans believe God is present with us through the Word and Sacraments we receive.
In fact, we teach that in the Lutheran Divine Service, God comes to forgive us, to feed us, bless us and send us out into the world. Our Liturgy identifies God’s performative work amongst us and as we receive this ministry of the Word and Sacrament we in turn respond to God through, responses, songs, prayers giving our thanks and praise.

Church Building Committee Communiqué # 9
1. The proposed building at the College has been fine turned by the Alatalo’s draftsman. We cannot go any further with these plans until we get some sort of direction from the outcome of the VCAT hearing.
2. Likewise the plans for the development at Havelock St have also been redesigned, to incorporate further green areas along with wider access in some of the walk-ways; however these changes come at a cost to the development in that it reduced the number of units able to be built on site to 18 from 20. These revised plans were provided to the VCAT hearing and accepted by all parties at the time of the hearing.
3. This means the issuing of a building permit to the Alatalo’s to begin the development at Havelock St will be delayed until such time as the matters in dispute are resolved post September 19-20 2019. To date we have not heard of any outcome by the chairman of the hearing.
4. It is still proposed to move to VLC in due course but not before we have to, this is still a number of months away provided of course that the Wodonga City gets a favourable verdict from VCAT, which will allow the Alatalo’s to proceed with the development at Havelock. We need also to understand even with a favourable out-come from VCAT there still will be a good deal more planning required by council regarding the Havelock site. This was always to be the case even after the approval of the development. The other aspect of all of this is that the verdict from VCAT may come with some conditions on the Council and in turn on the Alatalo’s. Patience is a virtue, and we will all need a good measure of it before we finish.
5. The other matter of some consequence for consideration is there is changed circumstance in governance associated with the College which may have bearing on what we can do at the college. The building of a new parish facility at the college is still very much alive and well, however over this coming month we will find out more from LEVNT on what the State government and LEVNT (Lutheran Education Victoria New South Wales and Tasmania) requires of us as the parish owners of the college.
6. Continue to feel free to comment on any aspect of our intended development at Havelock and VLC.
