7,325% MR (mechanical right) BIEM - CD BIEM - CDIt regards record companies that regularly release albums and for which a BIEM agreement has been signed. Thanks to this contract, the producer receives a permanent authorization to manufacture sound carriers. The author's rights are distributed twice a year by Sabam based on the number of copies that have left the stock.

Reproduction right Belgium is defined as the permission to fixate musical works on sound carriers (CD, DVD, vinyl, USB, etc.), whereby the record producers concerned obtained a license for this purpose, either directly from Sabam (BIEM, Work by Work), or through a foreign sister society, but for which the collected authors’ rights are transferred to Sabam, specifically for distribution in Belgium, in order to distribute among the right holders concerned (Central Licensing).

9,325% MR BIEM - DVD Musical BIEM – musical DVDSee BIEM – CD: concert recordings on DVD or Blu-Ray are placed under a separate subcategory due to a different commission rate.

3,7% MR Central Licensing - CD Central Licensing - CDIt regards mainly big record producers (Universal, Warner and Sony) that allow an authors' society to manage in a centralised way the collection of the reproduction rights and this, for the full exploitation in Europe, but where the collected royalties related to the distribution in Belgium are transferred to Sabam for distribution to the right holders concerned.

16% REPRODUCTION Reproduction rights Audiovisual reproduction rights are understood to mean the fi xation on an image carrier of musical works that are used in an audiovisual production. Examples include the use and fi xation of musical works in fi lms, documentaries, radio and TV commercials, etc.

SYNCHRONISATION Commercial repertoire Synchronisation rights are understood to mean the permission for the use of an existing musical work in a production (audiovisual, advertising, promotional, theatrical, etc.). The commission is decreasing, starting at 10%.

We distribute the budgets assigned to the Authors in the following rights’ categories: - LIT = literary texts- PART = music scores- JT = journalistic texts- AND = other texts - FOTO = photos- VIS = other visual works or works of visual arts

There are three possible budget types:

- PRESENT: All publications published in the collection year. - PAST: All publications published in the collection year -1 or in collection year -2 (receiving royalties for the 2nd or 3rd time). - LATE: Publications published in the collection year -1 and -2, BUT declared during the encoding period of the current distribution.

16% DBKA / MR Visual Arts Collective - Private Copy (Auvibel) Rights paid for the private copying of works in the Visual arts (mainly applies to photos).

18,5% DBKC / MR Visual Arts Collective - Cable Authors’ right paid by the cable companies or Internet Access Providers in exchange for the retransmission of broadcasts of graphic works by cable (for instance a painting on the wall of a living room in a soap).

18,5% DBKT / MR Visual Arts Collective - Television rights Authors’ right paid by the stations in exchange for broadcasting works from the graphic and visual arts on television (for instance a painting on the wall of a living room in a soap).

VISUAL ARTS - RESALE RIGHTS

16% BKV Visual Arts - Resale rights Right for the author of an original graphic or plastic artwork (and for his heirs after his death for a period of 70 years from the day that the author died) to a percentage of the price at which this work was (re)sold on the second market (auction houses, art galleries, etc.) in Belgium.

4,5% BKV Visual Arts - Resale rights Right (percentage of the price) to the resale of visual art from abroad.

VISUAL ARTS - REPRODUCTION RIGHTS

11% BKR Visual Arts - Reproduction Rights Compensation to be paid to the author in exchange for fi xating a copyrighted work of visual art on graphic (book, catalogue, etc.) and/or electronic (e-book) carrier.
