It is simply video services for multiple users provided via a single satellite television antenna where the TV, rather than the satellite receiver, is used to change channels. DIRECTV narrows the definition to services sold to hospitals, hotels, dormitories, prisons and assisted living. A common SMATV hardware configuration consists of: • Roof mounted antenna • Polarity locking IF launch amplifier • Coax cable-run from satellite antenna to “headend” rack • “Headend” Equipment Rack (see 64 channel photo example) o (Splitters if more than 1 multiswitch required) o Multiswitch(s) o DIRECTV Receivers (One per Channel) o Modulators (One per receiver/channel) o Combiner(s) o RF amplifier o (Additional options may include, UPS back up power, Monitor/Shelf, Fan(s), extra modulator (for back up service) Headend products from Perfect-10 can be used for free-to-air programming in educational or ethnic markets, as well as DIRECTV SMATV installations in institutions, hotels, lodges, nursing homes and many other facilities Does the Dealer Build the Headend or Buy The Completed Assembly?
