A year and a half before its planned opening, the Nebraska Multisport Complex has set its user rates.
President Harold Cliff said the complex has garnered “a lot of interest” from potential user groups.
“So far the response has been very positive,” he said.
The $125 million multi-sport complex will feature 24 tennis courts, 12 soccer fields and six pools — includ-
ing two Olympic-size pools. The complex’s user rates are broken down by sport, peak days and times, use
and season.
Swimming groups will pay between $14 and $36 per hour, per lane for training time in the indoor champi-
onship pool, which is being built for the complex. The price will depend on day and time, as well as wheth-
er users want a short or long course.
To train in the pool used in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Swim Trials, groups will pay the same rate. That pool
will be outdoors.
Competitions will be much pricier: A full day in the indoor pool will cost $4,000.
To determine rates, the multi-sport group used a feasibility study conducted by Isaac Sports Group of
Ann Arbor, Michigan.
That study examined other athletic facilities in the Midwest and in Omaha, Cliff said, including Woods
Tennis Center in Lincoln, the city’s Koch Family Outdoor Tennis Center and the Scheels Overland Park
Soccer Complex in Kansas.
“We tried to come up with something that was comparable and a fair price that also covers our expens-
es,” he said.
Groups interested in the multi-sport complex soccer fields could pay anywhere from $75 to $450 per
hour, depending on the date and time and if they’re using just one outdoor or indoor field or the entire
field house.
Existing facilities in Omaha aren’t easily comparable with the multisport complex, Cliff said, but the
Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex is somewhat similar. It has a different rate structure, however.
That complex charges fees based on how the field will be used. Games cost $300 to $400 for 10 hours
of play, and tournaments cost $400 per day, per field used. Camps, clinics and schools can pay $50 an
hour per field.
Tennis groups will be charged from $8 to $20 per hour, depending on whether they’re playing inside or
outside. La Vista residents will pay less than nonresidents.
That’s about the same as paying for a court at Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln. There, an entire court is
$30 per hour without a pass. With a pass, it’s a little less.
Right now, the multisport group is gauging interest and seeking commitments from people who will occu-
py “a significant amount of rental time,” he said. But the goal is to provide space for a wide array of us-
ers, he said. He doesn’t want to book the entire facility upfront, he said.
The fees are based on market rates for 2018 and could change, the group said. Discounts for long-term
and high-volume use also can be negotiated.
