From the Desk of Gina Hagan, Children’s Ministry Director

Oh my! Everyone is back in school, college football is upon us, the air is getting cooler…

and the schedule is getting busy!! Here’s the buzz for September:

Wonderful Wednesday We get back to mid-week fun and fellowship on Wednesday, September 4th. There is a

new start time so make a note: Registration begins in the gym at 5:15. First group

session begins at 5:30. We must have a registration form for each child so be ready to

fill out a short form – but don’t worry – it’s the only one we will need for the 2013-2014

school year!

For those of you new to Wonderful Wednesday: Children are divided into age groups: Preschool – Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd Grade, 3rd – 5th Grades

Children will rotate through three different areas each week: Music & Recreation, Story Time and Bible

Verse Memorization, Crafts & Missions. They will spend 15 minutes in each area.

Registration begins at 5:15 in the gym. Pick-up is 6:15-6:30 in the gym.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday nights!

Promotion Sunday: On Sunday, September 8 during 11:00am Worship we will be

recognizing the Children’s Sunday School classes. Mrs. Kim has great music planned

for the day and we will be showing you pictures of freshly painted and decorated

Sunday School rooms! Children and Teachers will be introduced to the congregation

and we will celebrate our 6th graders who have joined the Youth program.

SOS: Hearts for Honduras Fun Run: Lee and I are back out pounding the pavement getting ready to par-

ticipate in the 2nd Annual Hearts for Honduras 5k Run but first we have to run with the kids! The kids Fun

Run starts at 7:30 am. You can win a medal, eat great pancakes and raise money while you are having

fun! Details are in the newsletter on how to sign up!

Kids Just Want to Have Fun: Our first outing away from the church takes us to Jaemor Farms in

Alto. Join us for fun on Saturday, September 21st. The fun includes the corn maze (with a mini-

maze for little ones), hayrides, apple cannons, farm slide and duck races. A value access pass is

$10 if we have a group of 20 or more. Check out their website at www.jaemorfarms.com for

more info. We will leave the church at 2:00 pm and be back by 6:00! Infant Nursery Available: The infant nursery is just about ready to open! We have a “wish” list if

you are able to help us out. We need: Changing table sheets, Diaper Ge-

nie, Pak n Play sheets, Baby monitor, Bulletin Board and a Glider chair. We

are also in need of Dads and Grand-Dads that Rock! (Uncles, Aunts, Moms

and Grand-moms are good, too!) Kelsey Harbin will be taking care of the ba-

bies in the infant nursery and she needs an adult volunteer with her during

8:30 and 11:00 Worship. Can you give an hour of your time to rock our pre-

cious babies??

Have ideas for the Children’s Ministry…Can you volunteer for Children’s Church? Call me at

As the new youth leader here at CFUMC, I must begin by expressing

how thankful I am for all of you who have given me such a warm wel-

come in the past two weeks. I am originally from Macon, Georgia and

with the challenge of what little family I have living in Florida and North

Carolina, I can say you all have already made this church feel like

home.

Just to tell you a bit about myself, I recently graduated from Emmanuel College with a

Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministries. I grew up in the United Methodist Church, so I

have a deep appreciation for its ministries. Since 7th grade, I have known my calling in min-

istry and my biggest supporters have always been members of this denomination. I would-

n’t be who I am today without them.

This is precisely why I am a Youth Pastor. What makes my heart beat on a daily basis

is the hope within me that I might one day make as big of a difference in the lives of youth,

much like my youth pastors did for me. My goal as a minister is to encourage the youth to

take responsibility for their faith while creating memorable Christ centered experiences

along the way. My passion is youth ministry and I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.

I personally thank you for the opportunity to speak into the lives of your children. The privi-

lege is all mine, and I am looking forward to the years ahead.

The youth meet every Sunday from 5:30pm-7:00 pm in the youth room. The specific

activities for Sundays will be announced accordingly. We will begin meeting on Wednesday

evenings in the youth room at 5:30pm starting September 4th. All youth meetings are open

to any youth in 6th through 12th grades. For any questions, feel free to contact Amber

Shirley by calling or texting (478) 951-5643 or emailing her at [email protected].

In Christ,

Amber Shirley

Welcome New Members!

A big welcome to our new members Louellen Besuden and Tara, Trey, and Daniel Wood.

Please help us in welcoming them to the CFUMC church family!
