Bryant College was founded in 1863 and is the second oldest institution of training for business in America.
In 1916, by an act of the Rhode Island Legislature, Bryant College was empowered to grant degrees, at which time its curriculum was changed to h igher education for business. In the same year, the College inaugurated the two-year accelerated program of courses, giving in two years of forty-eight weeks each the equivalent number of credit hours of most fouryear academic colleges of shorter college years, and is the first educational inst itution, so far as is known, to have done -so.
