Comma Rule #3: use commas with standard conventions.
1. In salutations and closings of friendly lettersExample: Dear Dad, Yours truly,
2. After the day AND year in a sentenceExample: Mrs. Young’s birthday is Wednesday, December 17, 2012, and you do not need to give her a present.
3. After the city and state if it is in the middle of a sentence.Example: I drove to Green Bay, Wisconsin, because that is where my parents and brother live.

4. Between the street address and the city in an address in a sentence
Example: You attend school at 400 Red Hawk
Parkway, Smyrna, Tennessee, at Stewarts Creek Middle School.
Thing to remember: if you have a comma in the convention, you need a comma after it too!

**Do NOT put a comma after the state if the zip code is listed afterwards.– Example. Green Bay, WI 54915
**Do NOT put a comma between a month and day (January 26)
**Do NOT put a comma between a house number and a street name (400 Red Hawk Pkwy)
