More Stuff You Should Know…

† Have you heard? Our youth fellowship groups have new names. The senior high team is called JAM, and the middle high team is called CORE. They’re both meeting tonight at 6:30pm for a visit from the folks at De Pere’s Comedy City who will be teaching about improv, communications, and fun! For more details, contact Lynnee Schmidt, Youth Administrator, at [email protected].

† Our Contemporary Readers Group will be meeting next Sunday at 5:30pm in Koinonia Lounge to review The Great Emergence: How Christianity is Changing and Why by Phyllis Tickle, a lay Episcopal minister. Dan Hamersky will lead a discussion on her brief historical review of Christianity emphasizing the transformations of the past and the social and cultural changes that challenge Christianity today. Everyone’s welcome to join the conversation even if you haven’t read the book.

† Hey guys! Our Men’s Bible Study group will begin meeting again on October 5 with future gatherings planned for the first and third Thursdays each month. We hear there’s always some good discussion, and they usually have treats!

† Ecumenical Partnership for Housing is looking for electrical appliances in good working condition, as their supplies are very low. If you have an electric washer, dryer, stove, or refrigerator that you would like to donate, please contact Sue (at E.P.H.) at 920-676-3779 or at [email protected].

† Watch for our October Monthly Newsletter coming later this week by email. If you’re not on our email list yet (or if you don’t use email), contact our Church Office at 336-1446 to get a copy or pick one up next Sunday at the Welcome Desk.

Join us today for our final Sunday Bike Ride at a special time and location. Due to the Packers game time, we’ll meet at 1pm at the Fox Point Boat Launch in De Pere (weather permitting) for a great ride followed by some ice cream! Helmets are required for all riders, and Wisconsin Trail Passes are needed for those 17 and older. Possible rides during October will be based on weather and interest. Contact Becky Nyberg at (920) 606-6438.

Maintaining and harvesting produce from our amazing Judy Allan Memorial Garden is just about done for the season. This week our scheduled helpers are the “God’s Gardeners” group, who will meet Wednesday from 6-7:30pm. However, everyone’s invited to help at anytime! For information about how you can help as we wrap up this summer’s efforts, please contact Ted Huebbe at [email protected] or Lynn at ([email protected]).

All women in our church family are invited to the Presbyterian Women Fall Cluster Meeting coming this Friday. Registration will be at 9:30am with the program running from 10am until 1pm. At this free event you’ll see displays of Peace and Justice project ideas, find out what other Presbyterian churches are doing, meet Winnebago Presbytery’s PW Coordinating Team, and make connections with other PW sisters. Please bring your own “brown bag” lunch. Beverages and dessert bars will be

provided. We hope you’ll come out and enjoy this special gathering on Friday!

Beginning next week, our Adult Christian Education (ACE) program will be providing two choices on Sunday mornings at 8:30am. One class meets in the Koinonia Lounge to explore “Faith in Action” with various leaders and topics. October classes will focus on the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and its meaning to our church.

The other ACE class will meet in the Gathering Area and study the "Believe" curriculum. Lynnee Schmidt will lead a weekly journey through the Bible exploring essential beliefs, practices, and virtues that every Christian should know. "Believe" will have a similar format to last year’s "The Story" with a brief DVD introduction followed by discussion. Our children and youth classes are also studying the “Believe” curriculum, so it could be a great opportunity for families to share their experiences.
