Principals News

Positive Behaviour for Learning The staff are currently reviewing the CORR values of our school. Very soon students and families will be surveyed to see if these CORR values will change for 2020. Please keep an eye out in the next fortnightly newsletter and on Facebook for the survey. We would appreciate as much feedback as possible to ensure that our CORR values reflect our whole school community. This week students who have not received a behaviour notification in weeks 1-5 will have a lunch time reward of a disco or a movie. These rewards will be happening twice a term in lunchtime, celebrating the students who are displaying the CORR values of the school. La’Raye D and Ella F received a handball at the morning assembly this week for following instructions and being respectful at second break. This week the staff will be trying to spot two other students displaying the CORR values in second break eating time. Kindergarten Students Starting in 2020 Mrs Waitoa and Magic Mary have been enjoying getting to know our Kindergarten students for 2020. If you are aware of any local families that have not approached the school for enrolment please ask them to contact the office ASAP. Lower North Coast Athletics Last Friday Aunty Gloria and myself accompanied Macy M, Lahtarah D, Sophie D and Ruby H the Lower North Coast Athletics Carnival. I would like to thank all of their parents and carers on the day that organised them for events and were a great cheer squad. Macy, Sophie and Ruby have all progressed to the North Coast carnival that will be held in Lismore next week. We wish them the best of luck. Father’s Day I would like to wish all of our fathers, grandfathers, uncles and other significant male figures in our student’s lives a very happy Father’s Day for this Sunday. A big thank you to our staff who cooked bacon and egg rolls for our early celebration last week. Stage 2 and 3 Camps Payments are due for both of these camps. Please call the office if you are having any concerns around this. I would like to thank our dedicated staff for giving our students the opportunity to attend a school camp and organising their homes so that they can leave for the week/night. The time away is usually a great growing experience for all students where they develop resilience, team work skills and develop further self-esteem. P and C The next P and C meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 10 September at 2pm .Please RSVP if you are able to make this meeting. At this stage we have had 2 families contact the office to enquire about the possibility of having a later meeting. Please also contact the office if you would be interested in attending a meeting at a different time. The P and C have tried varying times over the past few years and we all want to work together to ensure that we have a time that will suit the majority of people that want to attend the meeting. Penny Chow Relieving Principal

On Monday of last week we celebrated Children’s Book Week with a parade. Students dressed in their favourite book character costume based around this year’s theme

READING IS MY SECRET POWER With the hall decorated by the direction of Magic Mary and her lunchtime helpers, we were dazzled by the variety of characters who turned up. The judges had a very difficult time to select two winners per class and all students should be very proud of their creative efforts. The Winners were: Hub 1 Liam N& Danica I Kieran T & Mia B Hub 2 Charlie C & Natalie P Harvey N & Chloe R Hub 3 Stella H & Lucas C Charlotte M & Draven K Hub 4 Duke L& Ruby S Riley T & Andi K Jamin H & Summah L Thank you to the teachers who also dressed in costume and helped make the day a success. Book Fair was officially opened and many families took the opportunity to purchase books and support our Library. We sold $4,000 worth of books during book week – what a fabulous result!! Our library will receive a percentage of this in order to purchase new books for the library. Thank you for your ongoing support Mrs Petah Fishburn, Teacher Librarian
