Principals News

North Coast Athletics Carnival Last Friday Caleb M, Nick Mc & Grace E proudly represented our school at the North Coast Athletics carnival in Lismore. All students had fantastic achievements on the day with Grace coming fifth in discus, Caleb came fourth in the 800m and fourteen in the 100m and Nick coming third in the discus. Nick will go on to the State Athletics Carnival in Sydney on the 31st October. We wish him the best of luck! 2019 We have begun the initial planning stages for our school structure for 2019. If you are leaving the area or are not intending for your child/ren to be enrolled here in 2019 can you please let the office know as soon as possible. Early Explorers If you have a child starting Kindergarten in 2019 and have not already contacted the school to complete an enrolment, please do so as soon as possible. Our Early Explorers program is still running and is a beneficial way for your child to transition into ‘big school’. If you are out of zone you will also need to complete an out of zone application, this needs to be done as soon as possible. New School Dress We have tallied the voting and the majority of students, staff and parents/carers have chosen the ‘new’ school dress. We will now begin the process of phasing in the new dress from the start of 2019. The school will place a bulk order for the dress late in term 4 we will have stock ready to begin the new school year. Please keep in mind that there will be a 2 year phase in of the new dress which means the old dress can still be worn until the start of year 2021. Soccer Last Friday a boys and girls soccer teams travelled out to South West Rocks to play against the South West Rocks Public School. All students really enjoyed themselves on the day and showed great sportsmanship. Thank you Mr Clough, Mr Henry and all the parents that helped transport the students on the day. Spring Into Art Teachers are selecting student’s works of art to represent our school at the MPS Spring into Art at Gladstone Art Gallery. The event will open on Monday 24 September. We hope that you can get along and see the amazing works from our talented students across our Macleay Public Schools.

Kind Regards, Penny Chow Relieving Principal

Our SRC will be holding a Silver Coin donation drive every day for the last week of term (next week). The class who raises the most silver coin donations will receive a reward on the last day of school. There will also be a ‘Dress as a Farmer’ out of uniform day with a gold coin donation on the last day of term 3, Friday 28 September. All proceeds from both events will be donated to a rural school whose township, students and community have been affected by the drought. This school will use the money to purchase their students ‘lunch on us’ in their local township in order to support their local businesses who are also doing it tough. Students at our school will then have a video conference with students from the rural school. If you would like to donate more than coins, that is also most welcome.
