The disadvantages of tourism in Hungary
Tourism in general
10% of GDP Gives work to 300,000 people One of the most important
sources of income for the country.
If tourism develops, the country’s economy develops too.
It’s seasonal…
The main holiday season in Hungary is summer.
There are no high mountains, no ski resorts. Winter tourism is not really important.
Balaton
Summer Winter
Environmental problems at Lake Balaton• The lake is overcrowded with tourists
during summer.• More tourists produce more waste.• Popularity can lead to increasing water
pollution.
Important task: we need to protect the water and the natural beauty of the lake and the region.
What can climate change cause?
• Drought• Forest fires• Sudden storms
All of these extreme events can maketourists stay away from the country.
Solutions • There is too much burden on
Lake Balaton.• We should improve other
areas and other types oftourism.
• We need more hotels and camping sites.• Pay attention our
cultural values.
Effects of the financial crisis
People have less money for travelling and entertainment.
They cannot spend a lot of money during holidays.
Hotels need to:- offer cheaper programs- offer better services and more entertainment for the same price
Hungary is going to get cheaper than Mediterranean countries.
Energy problems
As tourism grows, we need more energy.
The energy consumption of hotels is quite high.
Positive thing: Hungarian industry doesn’t produce a lot of harmful gases.
Thanks for your attention!
