“Many things have to change course (to protect our common home) but it is we human beings, above all, who
need to change.” Pope Francis
We all want to have clean air and water. We all want to leave a healthy planet for our children and
grandchildren but the challenges we face can feel overwhelming. The “I Can Do That” section of the bulletin
will guide us in the process of creating earth friendly habits. Every week it will feature a quote from a saint,
Pope Francis, or Laudato Si’, the encyclical written by Pope Francis, along with a simple idea to consider
implementing. Often, there will be information about why we need these changes. Some ideas will be familiar
but are worth revisiting. Some will be new.
The suggestions might appear small but once enough people take action in their own lives, it will start a chain
reaction that can only end in a healthier planet Earth. Many of the ideas cost nothing. Some require an initial
investment but will save money in the long run. These steps can improve the environment over the course of
a lifetime. Start with one thing. Then move on to another. Learn and implement strategies that work for you.
If we all make simple changes, together we will make profound changes.
Do you have an hour or two on a Tuesday morning once per
month? Do you mind vacuuming? You are needed!!
THE GLORY BEES give glory to God by cleaning the church.
Please call Libbie at the church office at 330-722-6633 if
you can help.
Pray for those who have died in Christ:

Catholic University Collection
January 18-19, 2020
Last weekend we held a second collection for the
Catholic University of America. The Catholic University
of America is the national university of the Catholic
Church and is committed to being a comprehensive
Catholic and American institution of higher learning.
Your investment will enable the University to continue to
support the Church and to advance its work of preparing
the next generation of leadership, both religious and lay,
of our Church and nation.
Thank you to all who donated. Your generosity is
appreciated.
Faces of Hope. Though we are many, we are one in Christ.
Many parishioners received letters in January, inviting their
support of the Annual Appeal. Please pray for the good
work of Catholic Charities and make a pledge today. Your
donation makes a difference!
Your support of the 2020 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal
will help us serve those individuals who are most in need
and most vulnerable. From Matthew’s Gospel: Whatever you
did for the least of these, you did it for me. When we feed
the hungry, take care of the sick, and welcome the stranger,
we are also serving Jesus himself. We appreciate your
donation and will take special care to use it wisely in
providing essential programs and services to people in need
throughout all eight counties of the Diocese of Cleveland.
We invite you to view stories of inspiration and more
information at CatholicCommunity.org/2020Appeal.

Latin America - El Salvador Collection
January 25-26, 2020
This weekend The Latin American Collection will take
place . This is the only appeal made by the Diocesan
Mission Office for the Cleveland Latin American Mission
in El Salvador. It is the main support for two Diocese of
Cleveland priests who work in the two parishes served
by our Mission Office. This appeal also makes a
contribution to the Collection for the Church in Latin
America that is managed by the US Conference of
Catholic Bishops and benefits projects and the formation
of seminarians, religious and lay leaders in 23 countries
across Latin America.
Thank you for your generosity.

Please Bring in Last Year's Palms
Please bring in your palms from last year's Palm
Sunday in January and February. We will be
teaching HMKids students how we burn last year's
palms for ashes to use on Ash Wednesday. There
will be receptacles at all the doors of the church for
you to place the palms in upon arrival. Palms are
needed by Feb. 23.
Serve With A Heart Like Jesus
Opportunities to serve will continue throughout
2020. Please consider how you can contribute. Many
hands make light work.
Here are some examples of ways students can serve:
Serving on Donut Sundays
Babysitting on Tuesdays during Following Christ
Baking items for the April Bake Sale
Eucharist Retreat
Parents of second graders should have received an
email with a link to sign up to attend the Eucharist
Retreat on Jan. 29 or February 1. Parents are
required to attend with their First Communicant
only (no siblings).
This retreat is an opportunity for parents to come
away from their busy lives and share one on one
with their children the origin of the Eucharist and
why it needs to be part of our weekly spiritual
growth.
We need to put on the armor of the Eucharist to get
through the week’s temptations, anxiety, stress and
disappointments. Jesus broke bread throughout his
three years of ministry, and this emphasizes why we
need to share the Eucharist and our everyday
stories of which Jesus is a part.
A Note to Parents
If your child needs to leave the worship area during
Mass, please escort him or her. We want your
children to be safe. On weekends, think of your
church as you would any public place where you
would keep track of where your child is and who he
or she is around.
