combine heat sourcesREDUCE HEATING COSTS

Times are changing and the old methods of heating with

oil and direct electricity are being replaced with greener

alternatives. Heat pumps have long been popular but the

price of electricity is starting to affect their cost too. They

still consume electricity, of course. One way of improv-

ing costs is to combine a heat pump with solar panels

and/or a pellet boiler. For this to work, you need a good

accumulator.

STORE HEATAn accumulator can be compared to

an energy container that is charged

from various heat sources such as

solar panels, a heat pump or wood/

pellet firing.

HOW DOES IT WORK?The accumulator tank stores the heat

in the water. To work optimally, it is

important for the tank to have good

stratification ability, i.e. for hot water

to rise to the top of the tank.

Possible combinations:

WOOD-FIRED BOILER AND SOLAR PANEL

Do you fire with wood? You already have the cheapest heating

available. However, wouldn't it be nice not to have to think about

heating and hot water in the summer? With a solar panel, you

and your wood-fired boiler can take a break for a full six months

every year!

SOLUTION WITH AQUALUX TEKNIK

The wood-fired boiler and solar panel are connected to an Aqualux

Teknik in a suitable size. If more water volume is required, connect

one or more Aqualux UB. The Teknik tank ensures that the stratifica-

tion is optimum. Värmebaronen's accumulators are compact so the

ceiling height of the boiler room is no problem.

PELLETS AND SOLAR PANEL

Do you fire with pellets? Then you have been a winner in the

recent extremely cold winters. The price of pellets has been low,

while the price of electricity has shot up. A pellet boiler works

best when it is cold outside, which is a good reason to use a

solar panel during the summer half of the year.

SOLUTION WITH AQUALUX TEKNIK

The pellet boiler is connected to an Aqualux Teknik of a suitable size.

The Teknik tank will ensure that the heat exchange is optimised for

both the boiler and the solar panel. Do you have a small boiler room?

The tanks in the Aqualux range are some of the lowest on the mar-

ket and are very compact.

HEAT PUMP, PELLETS AND SOLAR PANEL

To combine three heat sources, you need a really good tank and

Aqualux Teknik is the best you can find. The solar panel handles

the heat in the summer half of the year, the pellet boiler takes

over when it is really cold and the heat pump provides heat for

the rest of the time. An optimum solution.

SOLUTION WITH AQUALUX TEKNIK

All heat sources are connected to Aqualux Teknik. The unique strati-

fication properties ensure that the heat pump, boiler and solar panel

can be used at the same time with maximum energy exchange. This

is a fairly expensive solution. However, it also saves a lot of money

every year.

TRADITIONAL WOOD SYSTEM

If you are sure that you will only use a single heat source, our

Acktank CU and UB accumulators are excellent choices. These

tanks provide sound stratification and are low and compact.

They are also very well built!

SOLUTION WITH SEVERAL TANKS

Acktank CU has a solid, copper-lined water heater and a total water

volume of 500 litres. It can be supplemented with one or more

Acktank UBs (UB = utan beredare = without heater) if the output of

the wood-fired boiler requires this. These tanks are also built in our

own factory in Sweden.

About stratificationIn an accumulator tank, it is important for the water to be strat-

ified. From the top of the tank, hot water is fed to the radia-

tors in the house, where it is then cooled. The water is pumped

back by means of a circulation pump and is supplied to the

tank below the hot layer. Stratification is important as it means

that the radiators are able to maintain the same temperature

throughout the tank's discharge cycle instead of the water

being mixed and gradually getting colder. Stratification also

makes it possible to heat hot water for the household.

Aqualux Teknik has extremely good stratification properties

and therefore provides superior economy.

A GOOD TANK PAVES THE WAY FOR THE FUTURE

Arranging the heating in a house can be a challenge. It is neces-

sary to think ahead and ensure that you are prepared for the

future.

With the right accumulator tank, you can connect different heat

sources and use them as appropriate.

REDUCE DEPENDENCE ON ELECTRICITY WITH AQUALUX TEKNIK

Fire with wood or pellets in the winter. In the spring you take a break

for 6 months and let the K2 solar panel handle the hot water. If you

have a heat pump, you can combine it with a solar panel in the sum-

mer and pellets in the winter when the price of electricity has shot

up. Everything is possible!

Solar panels can be installed in several ways, depending on the type of roof you have. The Värmebaronen K2 is available with ready-made solutions for standard roof types.

Aqualux Teknik is available in three sizes

WOOD FIRING AND AQUALUX TEKNIK

Even if you buy chopped wood, wood firing is by far the

cheapest way of heating your home. You need to put some

work into this every day during the winter half of the year. With

Aqualux Teknik connected to your wood-fired boiler, you can

connect a solar panel. Then you don't need to worry about

wood from April to October.

PELLET FIRING AND AQUALUX TEKNIK

Low prices for pellets have made pellet firers winners. As a

pellet firer, you avoid having to worry about high electricity

bills and the efficiency of the boiler just increases the colder

it gets. There is no risk of freezing. Let the solar panel han-

dle the heat in the summer half of the year. It doesn't get any

greener than this!

SOLAR PANEL AND AQUALUX TEKNIK

All heat sources can be supplemented with solar panels.

During the summer half of the year, they handle all the heat.

There is no work or cost involved. The service life of the sys-

tem to which they are connected is also extended. Solar pan-

els are always a good investment.

HEAT PUMP AND AQUALUX TEKNIK

When electricity prices shoot up in the winter, heating gets ex-

pensive, even with a heat pump. Connect the little Pellmax UB

pellet boiler and fire with pellets instead. It is much cheaper.

You can, of course, also connect solar panels to your heat

pump. In some cases, it is possible to 'charge' an undersized

bore hole with solar panels during the summer and thus in-

crease the efficiency of the pump.

How to save money with Aqualux TeknikFLOW RESTRICTORS AND STRATIFICATION PLATES

Värmebaronen's Teknik tanks have unique flow restrictors

and stratification plates, enabling them to handle several heat

sources at the same time without them disturbing the stratifi-

cation in the tank – and thus cancelling each other out. These

functions mean that you save even more money on your heat-

ing installation.

Aqualux Teknik has a built-in solar coil for thermal transfer from

solar panels. A generous copper-lined hot water heater en-

sures that there is always enough hot water. Thanks to the hot

water heater, the accumulator tank is also not sensitive to lime.

COMPACT DIMENSIONS

Aqualux Teknik tanks are some of the very lowest tanks on the

market and are only 76 cm wide.

BEST ACCUMULATOR TANKS ON THE MARKET?

We think that Aqualux Teknik tanks are the best accumulator

tanks you can choose. Aqualux Teknik is what you need when

you connect solar panels to your wood-fired or pellet boiler.

The same is true when you supplement your heat pump with

solar panels/pellets.

CAREFULLY INSULATED

The insulation is carefully carried out and fixed in place with

a special tool so that it is not pressed together and retains its

fluffiness. All joints overlap. At the top there is also Styrofoam

insulation. The bottom of the tank is also well insulated. The

insulation depth is always at least 90 mm.

This is the difference:

Aqualux Teknik Tank with hot water coil

Aqualux Teknik, solar panel, heat pump Tank without diffusers and stratification plates

Aqualux Teknik has 15–-20% higher buffer capacity than a good coil tank and produces hot water even when the tank is almost discharged. If you have a solar panel, the tank can cope with several cloudy days. If you fire with wood, this means you have to fire less frequently. The tank is also not sensitive to lime in the water.

A coil tank has a poor ability to heat water, which means that the hot water temperature soon falls. The tank requires heat to be supplied more frequently, wood firers have to fire more frequently and if you have solar panels, it must not be cloudy for several days in a row. The coil is sensitive to water containing lime.

Aqualux Teknik has up to 25 times the stratification-retaining properties of a standard tank. This allows a heat pump's COP to be increased from 2.48 to 3.78, which means a 65% increase at a mean outdoor temperature of 2°C. Solar panel output can increase by 60–70% during the winter half of the year.

If several heat sources are connected to a standard tank with-out either stratification plates or diffusers, the water supplied from all sources is mixed up and there is no stratification. The result is poorer economy and a poor return on the investment in solar panels and/or a heat pump.

WITHOUT A HEATER IN THREE SIZES

If you fire with wood, it is usually not enough to have just one

Aqualux Teknik. The output of a wood-fired boiler requires a high

volume of water.

In this case, it is easy to add one or more Aqualux UBs.

These tanks have no flow restrictors, stratification plates or

WOOD-FIRED BOILERS

Värmebaronen has a wide range of wood-fired boilers, all of

which work very well with these accumulator tanks. Choose

from fan boilers, natural draught boilers and combination boilers

with outputs up to 50 kW. With or without water heaters. All boi-

lers can be fired with pellets. Order our wood-firing catalogue!

PELLET BOILERS

Pellmax is a range of efficient, user-friendly pellet boilers. The

smallest boiler in the range, Pellmax UB, is best suited for use

with solar panels. You connect both the solar panels and the

boiler to an Aqualux Teknik and let the solar panels heat the hot

water and the house during the summer half of the year. In the

In the

winter half of the year, you fire the boiler with pellets and the

solar panels help heat the water on sunny days. This solution

is recommended by energy consultants and is both economical

and green. Order our pellet catalogue!
