Stress – Is it Dangerous? Is all Stress bad?

Or is there good and bad stress?

Would you be under stress if you saw this?

Stress is Essential to Survival• The stress response is a built in survival

mechanism.• When there is a danger to physical survival, a

mechanism is triggered in our brain to optimize the body’s ability to respond to that danger.

• This is a life saving response that allows us to react to the danger with maximum efficiency.

Stressors are “Buttons” for Stress• The difference between "stress" and "a stressor" - a stressor is

an agent or stimulus that causes stress. Stress is the response we have when under pressure, while stressors are the things we respond to in our environment. Examples of stressors are noises, unpleasant people, a speeding car, or even going out on a first date. Generally the more stressors we experience, the more stressed we feel.

• Our fight-or-flight response is our body's sympathetic nervous system reacting to a stressful event. Our body produces chemicals cortisol, adrenaline and noradrenaline, which trigger a higher heart rate, muscle tension, sweating, and alertness.

8 Dangers of Stress1. Difficult to control emotions http://www.pnas.org/content/early/2013/08/21/1305706110.abstract?sid=6c2c254d-a060-40f4-97a8-34e93aeb14682. East and West AgreesStress is Harmful!

But stress does something else!“Current research suggests that stress may play a significant role in increasing the

body’s requirement for a range of nutrients, such as vitamins A, C, E and B complex, as well as the minerals magnesium, potassium, zinc, calcium, and amino acids. It is

likely that stress increases the body’s requirements for almost all nutrients through an increase in cellular activity, as well as the demand for specific nutrients used in the

stress response. In addition, there are many studies supporting the use of nutritional supplements in reducing the negative impacts of stress.

So if you can’t reduce your stress increase your supplement level.”http://
