Morristown Memorial Hospital Opens New Children’s Wing January 28th, Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Donor Recognition

Morristown, NJ (January 28th, 2014) - On January 28th Morristown Memorial Hospital held a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony to introduce its new pediatric wing located in the lower level of the hospital. The ceremonies were followed by a dinner at the Marriot Hotel across the street, in honor of the donors to the project.

“This addition to our hospital is going provide more attentive care to children and better facilities to accommodate their needs,” said Dr. David Shulkin, President of Morristown Memorial Hospital. “Without the help of the donors, we would not have been able to create the new pediatric wing.”

Many of the donors were in attendance at the dinner, including representatives from the Make a Wish Foundation, which contributed $2 million to the project.

The new pediatric wing was built to accommodate a larger number of patients and their families. The hospital’s board decided that it was in their best interest to establish a new wing, specifically for pediatrics because of the hospital’s mission to treat major childhood diseases. With the help of generous donors, the 200-bed wing was built to include MRIs, Intensive Care Units, new surgical centers, neo natal facilities, and a children’s play area. It also includes space for parents to spend the night with their children.

The wing will accommodate not only local patients, but critical care needs from all over the northeast region.

Novartis Pharmaceuticals Internship

During this internship I did all different types of work for Internal Communications for Oncology at Novartis. I organized and created Grant spreadsheets, edited and sent out invitations for Galas while working with the event planning team, drafted proposals for different communication platforms used internally within

the company as well as wrote articles on different events that occurred at the company. I also revised approvals for different members of my team as well as added my own input to later advocate at our weekly meeting.
