The Rich FoolThe Parables of Jesus

A man once made a request of Jesus, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide with me the property our father left us.” Jesus answered, “Who made me a judge over you? Beware of being greedy!”

And Jesus then told this parable: The land of a certain rich man bore good crops and he thought, “What should I do? I don’t have enough room to store all my crops? I know what I will do: I will tear down my barns, and build bigger ones; and then I will have room to store all my crops and goods”. Then I will relax and think to myself, “You lucky man! You have everything you need for many years to come; so now you can enjoy your life, eating, drinking, and having fun.” But God called him a fool, telling him he would die that night and asking him, “Who now will benefit from all these things that you have stored for yourself?”

This describes the person who only piles up treasure for himself, but is not rich in the things that matter to God.

You can read it in Luke chapter 12, verses 13 to 21.
