    Counseling and Guidance SpecialtyAssessment, The PLACE Exam or 3

    years of school counseling experience

    outside of the state of Colorado

    check completed through the ColoradoBureau of Investigations and

    fingerprints taken by qualified law

    Colorado Requirement

    School Counselors

    Candidates MUST have a masters

    degree in order to gain a

    professional position in the

    schools

    Candidates must complete 100

    practicum clock hours and 600

    internship hours supervised by a

    licensed school counselor

    Educators

    Candidates can enter into the teaching

    professional after completion of an

    accredited teaching program with either

    a bachelor or masters degree inteaching

    Candidates must demonstrate

    professional knowledge in their subject

    teaching area by completing 24

    semester hours of course work asdocumented through transcripts or

    State Board of Education approved

    content assessment

    Your not quite done yet. Upon being hired

    into a school district you are placed on aProvisional License. You must complete an

    Induction Program through the school

    district which takes place over 3 years.Upon completion of the Induction Program

    you can apply for a Professional License

    through the Colorado Department of

    Education.
