Volume 34 September 6, 2017 Number 36
Making disciples of Jesus Christ by seeking God’s will, sharing God’s love, and serving God and our neighbors
Ways to help those effected by hurricane Harvey:
1. Please continue to pray for those whose lives have been impacted by hurricane/tropical storm
Harvey. Please also pray for the Early Response Teams, disaster coordinators, and many volunteers
in The Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, Louisiana Conference of The
United Methodist Church, Río Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church and Central Tex-
as Conference who are working tirelessly to provide relief after Harvey.
2. Make relief kits / buckets http://www.umcor.org/…/Relief-S…/Relief-Supply-Kits/Cleaning. You may drop these off in the main hall-
way of the church on or before Sunday, September 10.
3. Give to UMCOR’s relief and recovery efforts. You may give a check to the church office with “UMCOR” in the memo line. 100% of
these funds will go to UMCOR direct relief effort.
4. Donate only those items requested.
5. Please wait for an invitation to volunteer.
Peace, Jathaniel
Colonial Park Donates a Full
Shopping Cart To United
Methodist
Neighborhood Center Food
Pantry
In August, 200 pounds of
canned vegetables and other
assorted food, were donated to
the United Methodist Neighborhood Center’s food pantry by
members of the Colonial Park family. Measured by content
weight, this was the largest August donation we have made to
the food bank since 2012. It joins a stream of other donations
that serve as a blessing of nutritious food to supplement the daily
diet of families who cannot afford all that they need. Ten percent
of Colonial Park’s donations go to the “Taking It To The
Streets” outreach ministry to help feed the homeless, day work-
ers and hungry families to demonstrate God’s care for them
through our expression of love, caring and concern.
In September we are collecting canned spaghetti/pasta sauce.
Donations can be placed in the shopping basket in the main hall.
Thank you for your ongoing generous support of this ministry.
Don Williams, Noted Local Referee, Slated for

ship Hall on September 19th at 6:30 pm.

Messick High School and Memphis State University. His

Greetings, Colonial Park families! The last week of this month, September 24th thru October 1st, Family Promise will be with us. It is time to get ready to prepare meals and spend the night and love on the families who will be with us. We know how you support this loving ministry, being the hands and feet of Christ, helping mothers and fathers who have young children who need to find housing. Recently, two church members have donated furnishings to families who moved into their own plac-es. The gratitude shown when gifts of this magnitude are given is just overwhelming. Thanks for this, to two women I truly love. You showed a kindness to other women who were in need. And now, start looking in the hall for the sign up sheets. Ask your Sunday School class, or Bible study, or lunch groups, if you'd like to prepare a meal. The way you do this is, one lady says, My chicken is better than yours, and you say, my green beans are the best. Soon, the whole meal is ready. If possible, I'd like to restructure Saturday, and instead of having just a few slots, I'd rather have shifts of an hour or two. The way this works, is you call your friends and say, Why don't we sit at church in the fellowship hall from noon until 2 on Saturday? How does this sound? And as all my articles end, Let's Talk! Ruth Crawford 497-5561
Adult Study Group: Steve continues Peter’s message on
being holy and that God judges impartially according to our
deeds. Our response - fear and reverence. Welcome to all
our visitors. Jackie, please come back. We welcome all to
our great lessons, fellowship, singing & refreshments.
Exodus Class: We're currently studying “Faith from the
Back Side” by J. Ellsworth Kalas. We meet in room 253.
Comprised of couples and singles with and without chil-
dren. Ages 30s to 50s. Everyone welcome.
Fidelis: 9/3/17 The fidelis Class had seven members, two visi-
tors present for Billt Detling to teach. The purpose of the
lesson today was “to recognize that despite the often de-
structive forces of existence, God’s promise of life endures.”
Bill did his usual excellent job of teaching. Our class was sad-
dened by the news of Gerry Stewart’s death, Friday, Septem-
ber 1. She will be missed by all. Thanks to Mary Truitt and
Bill Fuller for the beautiful music. We always welcome visi-
tors. Come see us in the Fellowship Hall.
Friendship: Our class studies short term books on a variety
of Christian topics. If you are looking for a Sunday School
class, please consider visiting with us. We meet in Room 215,
above the Fellowship Hall, at 9:45 am.
Wesleyan Class: Sunday, September 10, 2017. Jim Enochs

Prophecy of Grace Bible Study Continues with Hebrews
We will celebrate the fulfilment of Grace with our study of Hebrews which begins on Tuesday, September 5, 6:30-8:00 pm and Friday morning, September 8 at 10-12 am. The glory and purpose of our Lord Jesus Christ is revealed through the background of our Jewish heritage in this compelling letter from Paul. The message and blessings found in this book are as timely today as when in was written during the reign of a dominate pagan culture.
We welcome everyone to our study and fellowship in the Garden Room. For questions contact Frances Cowden at 901-216-4496
