Amazon rainforestThe Amazon rainforest was listed in 2008 as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.One in ten known species in the world lives in the Amazon Rainforest.

This constitutes the largest collection of living plants and animal species in the world.Among the largest predatory creatures are the black caiman, jaguar, cougar, and anaconda. In the river, electric eels can produce an electric shock that can stun or kill, while piranha are known to bite and injure humans.The Amazon represents over half of the planet's remaining rainforests, and it comprises the largest and most species-rich tract of tropical rainforest in the world.

NORTHERN PART OF THE COUNTRY

WAYUU SOCIETY Today we see different types of housing made of

beautiful timber. Agriculture is practiced on a small scale, but grazing is the base of the economy. They hunt and fish on a smaller scale.

The most developed industry is textiles, followed by ceramics. The women are expert weavers and have retained the beautiful traditional designs in many useful objects with colored tissue which are very impressive.

The Wayuu society presents a complex structure that is matrilineal and clan based. Each with its own territory and its own totem animal. There is a specific form of administering justice. Women have important roles, such as being the organizer of the clan. They are very active politically, and they are also very independent.

Salt mining, agriculture and livestock are subsistence products that engage the indigenous population. Their land is rich in natural gas, designed to meet the energy needs of the Atlantic Coast and they can also export coal from large deposits in the “Cerrejón”.

TAYRONA CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION

'From the Heart of the World - The Elder Brothers' Warning', is a BBC documentary made in 1990. The film sends a strong message from the Tayrona tribe of warning to conserve the environment.

"We are happy about living life like this," said Jeremias Torres, 40, an Arhuaco leader. "The point is to live, to live a tranquil life, without being dependent on anyone."

• It is awe-inspiring how these ancestral communities have survived for 500 years against many intentions to destroy their culture starting in the time of colonization. Now they are saving their territory from the World’s Largest Hydro Dam Project which is producing severe environmental impacts and human rights violations.

One of the finest traditional and recommended “paisa” tray is known, is undoubtedly a tasty dish in which you can find a little of everything as in Colombia.

The restaurants in Colombia are generally friendly and we can always find a traditional atmosphere, one of the things that makes them so special is that they are in colonial-era buildings, that are restored to create a pleasant and welcoming feeling.

No doubt some traditional Colombian FOOD is fish, that is present in many popular dishes.
