Dear Auditioning Singer, I’m so happy you’ve chosen to audition for the auditioned jazz choir, Collegians. EWU Vocal Jazz Choirs are open to any EWU student. The purpose of the audition process is to place singers in the group that is appropriate for their current skill level. There are two jazz choirs available this year: Vocal Jazz – requires no audition, meets T & R 12-1:50 in Rm 216 – directed by Kelly Noelle Parks J Collegians – requires audition, meets M, W, F 3-4:50 in Rm 216, is a full year commitment, has a course fee for Spring Tour (around $100), and will have many performance opportunities. Preference will be given to students with musical skill and excellent attitudes who work well with others in a group setting. This is a 2 step placement audition: 1. Group Audition Process – Wednesday and Friday Sept. 21 & 23. During the group audition process, you will sing the attached prepared excerpts. This year auditions will be held in Room 216. They will be recorded. Be prepared to sing your part and to do some solo work. Make sure you have prepared yourself well in order to represent your skills in a genuine manner. Parts will not be played at the audition. Also, please fill out the information form in this packet to be handed in upon your entrance to auditions. 2. Individual Meetings – If this would be your first quarter in Collegians, please sign up on Professor Ploeger’s door for a 10 minute individual meeting. Dear Auditioning Singer,

I’m so happy you’ve chosen to audition for the auditioned jazz choir, Collegians. EWU Vocal Jazz Choirs are open to any EWU student. 2017-18 Collegians Vocal Jazz Performance Schedule (as of Sept 15, 2018): Fall Quarter 2017

• Thursday, October 26, 2017 Vocal Jazz Solo Night – Location TBA, Standards … lots and lots of them. Food – just us, family and friends. (Probably at the haunted house J)

• Thurs-Fri, November 16-17, 2017 Jazz Festival with New York Voices & a Big Band, plan to be busy all day, sing a concert Thursday night, and have your mind blown Friday night.

• Saturday, December 2nd, 2017 ‘Holiday Jazz’ at Central Lutheran Church. Afternoon Concert with a Dress rehearsal beforehand at Central Lutheran 512 Bernard Street / Spokane, WA 99204

Winter Quarter 2018 (tentative)

• There will be a couple of run outs to local high schools during Winter Quarter. They are, however, not yet confirmed.

• Thursday, January 25, 2018 Vocal Jazz Solo Night – Location TBA, Standards … lots and lots of them. Food – just us, family and friends. (Probably at the haunted house J)

• Tuesday, March 13, 2018 Jazz Night with CJO, Rep Jazz, Lab Jazz, VJ II, & Coll • Monday, March 19th, 2018 EWU Choral Concert ‘It’s conTEXTual, trio (3)’ at Cheney
