Dean’s Message

Since it was established in 1979, the College of Pharmacy at Chungnam National University has made an outstanding achievements in

the area of pharmacy education and biomedical research. It has produced more than 1,320 graduates with bachelor’s degree and 680

graduates with master or Ph.D. degree, playing central roles in both academic and industrial fields for the development of our society.

The six - year pharmacy program that is designed to put more emphasis on education for basic pharmacology, clinical pharmacy and

practical training was launched in 2011. Since then, faculties of our college have made an unremitting efforts to provide students with

all the resources they need to adapt to the new program comfortably and to achieve their educational goals. As a result, the College

of Pharmacy at CNU produced first 48 graduates of the six year program in February 2015 with pride and distinguished ability.

Our college also operates a highly reputed graduate program. Recently, the College of Pharmacy has been awarded with the BK21

Plus Program administered by the Korean Ministry of Education for the purpose of strengthening domestic graduate programs. In

addition, the Institute of Drug Research and Development was recognized as a Priority Research Center supported by the National

Research Foundation. Furthermore, our college has been awarded with the CK-1 project administered by the National Research

Foundation. The project supported the improvement of domestic education and many international students to take up undergraduate

and postgraduate courses. It is also worth noting that our college was rated by Chosun-Ilbo, one of leading Korean newspapers, as

one of the best pharmacy schools in the nation based on its quality of research and publication records.

At last, our college was ranked No. 1 by “QS World University Ranking by Subject Pharmacy & Pharmacology” among Korean Major

National Universities in 2015 and 2016. Many thanks return to all including renowned faculties, students and alumni to make it

possible such a good reputation.

On behalf of the faculties and students of our college, I would like to sincerely acknowledge all alumni for their generosity and the

outpouring support that they have given our college. I pledge to continue to do my best to build up a more beneficial and productive

educational and research programs and be an important contribution to our society.

morality in Korea since 1979. After introducing a 6-year school system for higher professional pharmacy

education in 2011, this college is now reorganized as a patient-oriented educational organization by

enhancing the curriculum related to pharmacy practice in addition to basic pharmaceutical researches.

The employment rate after graduation is 100%.

Employment Rate Employment Fields

The College of Pharmacy consists of two academic departments including department of pharmacy, and

department of manufacturing pharmacy. In 2015, all departments will be combined as a department of

pharmacy in the college of pharmacy.

Twenty faculty members serve the college. Academic year consists of spring semester (March to June,

15 weeks) and fall semester (August to December, 15 weeks), as well as summer and winter sessions.

Minimum requirement for B.S. degree is 168 credits including 30 credits for pharmacy practice. More than

40% of undergraduate students receive financial support through various scholarships.

The college has several collaborative education and research agreements with top tier international
