REGIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD-Mike Burns-2005-
Regional Coach of the Year recognition began in 1961 when each region
nominated a regional Coach of the Year. In 1973, when the National Coach
of the Year was no longer selected by nomination and by ballot, the C.G.A.
continued electing the Regional Coaches of the Year. The chairman mails
out ballots to every active member for selection of one Regional Coach of
the Year for each region. In 1997 the voting regions were realigned into
three regions: West, Central, and East. The awards are presented each
spring at the coaches' meeting by the C.G.A. Vice President.

RICHARD ARONSON SPECIAL SERVICE AWARD
The first Special Service Award was presented in 1967 by Special Service Award
Chairman, Lyle Welser. Nominees for this award are presented to the chairman
of the committee who then presents the nominees to the membership for approval.
The award is for a person the membership feels has contributed significantly to
the C.G.A. and is also designed to be given to the retiring C.G.A. President
and for outstanding service to the coaches' association. Winners are
recognized at the annual spring meeting.

NISSEN-EMERY AWARD CHAIRMAN – Carmine Giglio-2010-
NISSEN-EMERY AWARD
Since 1966, college gymnastics' highest honor, the Nissen Award, has been
presented annually to that year's outstanding senior collegiate gymnast.
From 1966 through 1989 the award nomination, selection and presentation
process was managed by the Nissen Company. IBM sponsored the award in
1990. USA Gymnastics sponsored the award from 1991-97. In 1998 Dr.
Robert W. Emery, the 1969 winner, agreed to help the C.G.A. finance the
redesigning of the Award and establish an endowment that would
indefinitely cover the annual expenses associated with it.
The Nissen-Emery Award does not only honor the collegiate senior gymnast
who has established an outstanding record of achievement during his
college career. More than simply an award for gymnastics excellence, the
winner must also meet these requirements:
He must be an example of good sportsmanship and fair play...
a champion in defeat as well as in victory.
He must maintain a high standard of scholarship throughout
his college career.
College gymnastics coaches, student athletes and accredited college
gymnastics judges all across the nation are requested each year to submit
nominations for the award. Gymnasts receiving the highest number of
nominations are then placed on a final ballot and voted upon by those same
coaches, athletes and judges.
The award presentation is held annually at the NCAA Gymnastics
Championships.
The "Heisman Trophy" of gymnastics, the Nissen-Emery Award is inscribed
with the following motto: "The true champion seeks excellence physically,
mentally, socially, and morally."

All-America Awards Chairman – Jerry Wright-2009-2013
Dan Ribeiro -2014-
ALL-AMERICA AWARDS
All-America awards are to be given annually to the top eight (8) place
medalists in the NCAA Championships and to the top six (6) at the U.S.A.G.
College Division National Championship in each individual event and the
all around.
Each recipient will receive three (3) identical certificates -- one each
for the gymnast, the coach, and his institution. Public announcement by
the host institution's sports information office will be made in the form
of a news release a few days following the NCAA Championships. This
release will be formulated in such a way as to describe the "NCAA All-
American team" as selected by the C.G.A.
Lou Burkel, Air Force Academy, chaired this committee for 20+? Years.
ACADEMIC TEAM CHAMPION and ALL-AMERICA SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARDS
Chairman - Cliff Gauthier
ACADEMIC TEAM CHAMPION OF MEN'S GYMNASTICS
The men’s gymnastics team with the highest combined team grade point average
for the academic year will be declared the Academic Team Champion of Men's
Gymnastics. All student-athletes who were members of your squad should be
included on this list unless they officially used their one red shirt year during
the season. Student-athletes who are working out with your team and have
previously used a red shirt year should be included on this list even though they
