Several FiftyForward stakeholders have come together to provide seed dollars for a Challenge Campaign. This means your contribution in support of the College Grove Center will be matched. As a member/supporter, you know first hand our center provides enriching programs and services. You also know operating a center takes financial resources over and above membership fees. Your generosity will help ensure your center programs and services remain available to all who need them. The campaign will run from May 1 through June 30, 2013. A big thanks to those who have already donated to our campaign. Rummage Sale The Rummage Sale continues through the month of June. Please bring in more items for the sale. We have already raised a couple hundred dollars off items sold. We accept household items, dishes, decorative items, jewelry, tools, craft supplies and holiday decorations. No furniture, appliances, clothes or broken items. Wednesday, June 19 , 11 a.m. Birthday Potluck: Native American Culture, Lunch and Magician We have a full day of fun. First we will join the library for an intergenerational program with GreyWolf Lindsey, a Native American Indian. Lunch will be served at noon. Finally, a magician will wind things up for the day. The Center provides the main dish, so please bring a covered side dish. Please note: Lunch will be served at 12 noon. CLASSEs

Tuesday, June 18, 1 - 3 p.m.

Bob Ross Painting Workshop Certified Bob Ross instructor, Liz Farrar, will teach a 2 hour class on 11x14

canvas in oil paint. Easy to follow, step by step instructions and demos for each step. This class is for beginners, yet experienced painters find they learn from it

as well. Students should wear old clothes, since it tends to get messy! The cost is $20 and includes all supplies. You will take home a completed oil paint picture at

the end of class. Sign up at center or call 368.7093. Non-members $3 fee.

Art Workshop - Tea Cup Bird Feeder Turn an old teacup and saucer or vintage teacup into an easy to make bird feeder.

Made with wires, beads, silverware and other creative decorations. It will be a 2 day workshop, June dates and times to be announced

Cost: $40 members and $55 non members Instructor: Renee LaRose

Oil/Water Media Painting 4 week session - Each class includes one on one critiques with attention paid to constructive suggestions in technique, approach, color mixing, and improvement

of skills with the instructor. Class begins Thursday June 13, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Cost: $60 members and $75 non members; Instructor: Renee LaRose

Bible Study Classes on Summer Break

The Bible study class meets the second and fourth Tuesday. Everyone is invited. Facilitator: Frances Greathouse

Computer Class If you have a laptop, you may bring it to class.

Pay as you go, $6 per class. Instructor: David Harmon Time: 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Wi-Fi is available at the center. 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. M – F.

Preserving Family Stories on the Computer Classes currently suspended until further notice

History and Genealogy The History & Genealogy Group meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays at 1 p.m.

H.O.T.T. Fitness This class is a mixture of Zumba Gold routines, light weights, kick boxing, floor exercises (for strengthening and toning) and of course a great stretch segment.

Class fees are $3 for members and $5 non members Class times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. - 9:15 a.m.

Zumba Gold This class is perfect for those just starting their fitness journey. It’s a dance-fitness class that feels friendly and fun with easy to follow invigorating moves. Classes

are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:45 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Class fees are $3 members and $5 non members

Instructor: Gineille Sabilino certified Zumba instructor

Yogalates Yoga poses, combined with Mat Pilates exercises to help improve balance,

flexibility and a full body workout for all levels and body styles. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:45 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Class fees are $3 members and $5 non members. Instructor: Gineille Sabilino

Line Dancing Learn the latest and hottest new line dances Friday mornings from 10 to 11:30 a.m. You will have a great time while you feel the benefits of a cardio workout. Center members, Sam and Shirley Kirtley, are great instructors and line dance

enthusiasts. No fee.Cathy Smotherman assistant instructor and researcher. An intermediate line dance class has been added on Mondays, 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Blood Pressure Checks

Every other Thursday at 10 a.m. blood pressure checks by Willowbrook.

Massages Wednesdays by appointment June 5, 12, 19 and 26

Licensed Massage Therapist, Kathy McFarlane, has years of experience serving mature adults with a gentle touch. Cost: $45 mbrs. $60 non-members

Writer’s Group

Writing, Etc. is for people who love and appreciate the written word whether it is poetry or prose, fact or fiction. The group is open to published writers, beginners,

and those who are at any point in between. Gentle critiques are given if requested. Come write with us every first and third Thursday of each month. June 6 and 20, 1 – 3 p.m. Free for members. Non members fee $24 a year.

Hand Work Group

The group continues to meet every Thursday at 10 a.m. to knit, crochet, construct quilt pieces, tat, cross stitch and other types of hand work. A great time to visit with others while working on individual projects. New participants are welcome.

Mentoring and tutoring available. No fee.

FiftyForward College Grove Book Discussion Group The book discussion group meets June 18 at 9 a.m. to discuss

Killing Lincoln by Bill O'Reilly. New members are always welcome.

Canasta – Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 – 3 p.m.

Bridge – Mondays, 10 – 2:30 p.m. Poker - Weds, 12:30 – 3 p.m.

Pool, Pedro, Scrabble, Rummikub, Skip-bo, and other games daily The center now has a corn hole game if you are interested in playing.
