The first one and a half months of college were busy with preparing for club rec ruitments, the most hyped process at college. I was out among the 840 other 2nd years, filling out resumes for respective clubs in their format, and running eve ry now and then to give different rounds of interviews. I got rejected by 3 of t he 5 tech-clubs that I had applied to and was feeling really depressed. Later on  did I realise that getting into a club at NITK required political power as well , which I didn't have and came out of that sad feeling. Then came the mid sem exams, where we all managed to get a lifetime low score.15  on 50 was like wow! We just moved on thinking that we'd have to learn to live w ith it as we've chosen it. The rest of the semester was spent with me trying to learn a lot of non-syllabus  Computer Science related topics, but I failed at almost everything. Like a silver lining to a dark cloud, I got selected for the Web Enthusiasts' cl ub at college. It is an almost only-boys' , geeky coders' club. Little did I kno w then that this club would completely re-shape my thinking and future. The more  surprising part of getting into it was that I was low on confidence, and for so me reason the convener of the club himself put in a lot of effort to bring it up  before I faced the interview panel. The semester ended with inspirational talks from NITK alumni and a horrible end- semester examinations. All this soothened with my night-out at the Prathishte Punnav at Mulki Venkatara mana Temple. I was full of enthusiasm after that and had a productive short-wint er vacation at Bangalore. In the fourth semester I had sort of given up hopes about grades, and started co ncentrating more on my coding skills, thanks to the coding atmosphere at Web Clu b. The professors also presented a lot of challenges in the form of projects, as signments, research papers, presenations, surprise tests, and what not! I didn't  return to Bangalore, my hometown for a whole semester! I'm happy I somehow managed the semester, though didn't completely succeed at it . The tiny tit bits of happiness then was to get selected for a workshop on Comp uter Networks at IIT Bombay, my dream college. Also I was assigned the post of E vents' co-ordinator at Web Club for the year 2015-2016, making me the only girl in the core team of the club. The happy fact about that is not the post itself b ut the additional contact and exposure I would get with the top coders of colleg e, some are among the top coders in the country too. Finally, All's well that ends well! I got a summer internship at a startup calle d Bilent Services Private Limited (www.kyash.com). I spent my hectic and busy bu t happy summer interning. Vishwa Konkani gave me most of the confidence I required to sit for most intervi ews and succeed in them. Also, it helped me get all the soft skills that I posse ss, given the fact that the club I'm in is full of coders and they give no impor tance to anything other than coding including personality devsselopment.

The previous year at college has been like a roller coaster ride. It started off with my first nervous day as a student of Computer Engineering. Seniors started scaring us about difficult professors, and we realized right in the first weekthat they were difficult beyond imagination.

The first one and a half months of college were busy with preparing for club recruitments, the most hyped process at college. I was out among the 840 other 2ndyears, filling out resumes for respective clubs in their format, and running every now and then to give different rounds of interviews. I got rejected by 3 of the 5 tech-clubs that I had applied to and was feeling really depressed. Later on did I realise that getting into a club at NITK required political power as well, which I didn't have and came out of that sad feeling.

Then came the mid sem exams, where we all managed to get a lifetime low score.15 on 50 was like wow! We just moved on thinking that we'd have to learn to live with it as we've chosen it.

The rest of the semester was spent with me trying to learn a lot of non-syllabus Computer Science related topics, but I failed at almost everything.

Like a silver lining to a dark cloud, I got selected for the Web Enthusiasts' club at college. It is an almost only-boys' , geeky coders' club. Little did I know then that this club would completely re-shape my thinking and future. The more surprising part of getting into it was that I was low on confidence, and for so

me reason the convener of the club himself put in a lot of effort to bring it up before I faced the interview panel.

The semester ended with inspirational talks from NITK alumni and a horrible end-semester examinations.

All this soothened with my night-out at the Prathishte Punnav at Mulki Venkataramana Temple. I was full of enthusiasm after that and had a productive short-winter vacation at Bangalore.

In the fourth semester I had sort of given up hopes about grades, and started concentrating more on my coding skills, thanks to the coding atmosphere at Web Club. The professors also presented a lot of challenges in the form of projects, as

signments, research papers, presenations, surprise tests, and what not! I didn't return to Bangalore, my hometown for a whole semester!

I'm happy I somehow managed the semester, though didn't completely succeed at it. The tiny tit bits of happiness then was to get selected for a workshop on Computer Networks at IIT Bombay, my dream college. Also I was assigned the post of Events' co-ordinator at Web Club for the year 2015-2016, making me the only girlin the core team of the club. The happy fact about that is not the post itself but the additional contact and exposure I would get with the top coders of college, some are among the top coders in the country too.

Finally, All's well that ends well! I got a summer internship at a startup called Bilent Services Private Limited (www.kyash.com). I spent my hectic and busy bu

t happy summer interning.

Vishwa Konkani gave me most of the confidence I required to sit for most interviews and succeed in them. Also, it helped me get all the soft skills that I possess, given the fact that the club I'm in is full of coders and they give no importance to anything other than coding including personality devsselopment.
