Dear Friends,

A few years ago a group of like-minded individuals set out on a journey to put Armenia on the map of the educa-tional world by creating an international boarding school of the highest standards. Today this vision has become a reality and this past September a ceremony of unveiling the clock counting down to UWC Dilijan’s opening in September 2014 took place on the school site. The founding donors Gagik Adibekyan and Vladimir Avetisyan participated in the event, which included a concert and attracted about 5,000 local residents. It was a great celebration of what has already been achieved. Several developments of note:• John Puddefoot, the Founding Head of the Aga Khan Academy in Hyderabad, India, and former Deputy Head of

Eton College, UK, was appointed Head of UWC Dilijan• In July, 30 students of 13 nationalities participated in a summer programme in social development in Dilijan ac-

credited by the UWC and sponsored by the RVVZ Foundation • The School has become a full member of the United World Colleges (UWC) network of 14 schools around the

world with the mission to deliver a challenging and transformational educational experience to a diverse cross section of students, inspiring them to create a more peaceful and sustainable future

• UWC Dilijan has been authorised by the International Baccalaureate to deliver its Diploma Programme • Scholae Mundi, a charitable foundation, has been incorporated in the UK (charity number 1153761) to support

UWC Dilijan and other philanthropic educational projects. It gives us great pleasure to present the first annual review and to thank all the friends and supporters of the school for your tremendous generosity and the good will that we have experienced on this exciting journey. We look forward to welcoming you to Dilijan on 11 October 2014 for the school opening and hope that you will con-tinue to be involved. Warm regards,

Veronika Zonabend and Ruben VardanyanOn behalf of the Founding Donors, the Board of Governors and the Board of Trustees of UWC Dilijan
