16th October 2016 AD MINISTRY MORSEL. The third of a series of 5 inspiring statements by John Stott on church. I trust you will reflect on and pray for this characteristic to grow in Northern Beaches Anglicans. ‘I have a dream of a church which is a Caring Church – whose congregation is drawn from people of many races, nations, ages and social backgrounds, and exhibits the unity and diversity of the family of God; whose fellowship is warm and welcoming, and never marred by anger, selfishness, jealousy or pride; whose members love one another with a pure heart fervently, forbearing one another, and bearing one another’s burdens; which offers friendship to the lonely, support to the weak, and acceptance to those who are despised and rejected by society; whose love spills over to the world outside, attractive infectious, irresistible, the love of God himself.’ I have a dream of a caring church. $20 SPONSORS THEOLOGICAL STUDY FOR STUDENTS IN SOUTH AND SOUTH EAST AISIA: This gift sponsors four

students like Mary (Name changed for security reasons) as they undertake theological study that will equip them to be faithful Bible teachers. Mary is currently in Australia studying a Masters of Theology, and upon its completion she is planning on returning to her South East Asian nation to teach at a local Bible College. She hopes to train other local believers in how to understand and teach the Bible. ‘I am training because our local Bible College has a vision to expand the academic teaching program in the near future. There is a real need for higher level teaching staff with Masters degrees in Old Testament studies for the college.’ Mary. (Anne)

NATIONAL CHURCH LIFE SURVEY is a useful tool that will give a snapshot of our parish life and will provide material that will assist us in developing the breadth of our parish ministry. Held every 5 years the traditional means of filling in the survey has been for everyone in church on a particular date to participate. After some thought David has decided that the best way of maximizing the survey’s usefulness is to make the survey available for parishioners to take home and return after being completed. This will take place from today until the end of November. The closing date for surveys to be returned is November 30. With a commitment to participate from us all this will provide a more accurate picture of our parish and more reliable information for future planning and attention to revealed issues in our parish life. Not only will you be providing vital information for our parish but you will be contributing to a detailed picture of the Christian church in Australia with hundreds of thousands of others in around 3,000 local churches across 21 Christian denominations or movements participating in the survey. From this Sunday the survey is available. Please take one. Follow the instructions, complete it and return it to the white basket at the rear of the church. DO NOT worry about the church code on the top right hand corner. That will be added before the surveys are sent away for processing. The survey is completely anonymous.

WOMEN’S GOURMET BREAKFAST: *Ladies please put 26th [email protected] in your diary. Our final breakfast for this year.
