Definition

Governmental and non-governmental organisations that implement animal health and welfare measures and other standards and recommendations in the Terrestrial Code and the OIE Aquatic Animal Health Code in the territory. …are under the overall control and direction of the Veterinary Authority.


Veterinary Authority Definition

Governmental authority of Member Country, comprising veterinarians, other professionals and para-professionals, having the responsibility and competence for ensuring or supervising the implementation of animal health and welfare measures, international veterinary certification and other standards and recommendations in the Terrestrial Code in the whole territory.


Veterinary Statutory Body

Definition An autonomous regulatory body for veterinarians and

veterinary para-professionals.

Educational Accreditation

Definition

Type of quality assurance process under which services and operations of educational institutions or programs are evaluated by an external body to determine if applicable standards are met.

• Development of educational standards/core competencies by accrediting entities and VEE’s to meet societal needs

• Recognition by the Veterinary Authority of the foundational role that veterinary education plays in effective Veterinary Services

• Acknowledgement by Veterinary Statutory Bodies of the need for educational prerequisites/requirements for licensure/registration and continued competency
