WELCOME
MARIA ANDERSONIOUG President
PATRICIA DUES LHEUREUXOAUG President
DAVID LYLEQuest Chairman of the Board
Oracle users, technologists and decision-makers are encountering new challenges
and opportunities at a faster pace than ever before. Transformational topics such
as Cloud, mobility, security and Big Data add to the complexity. COLLABORATE
16 aims to take the Oracle community on a journey to clarity on these issues and
others, with a destination of greater satisfaction and increased return on product
investments. COLLABORATE is a once-a-year opportunity for members of three
global Oracle users groups (IOUG, OAUG and Quest) to connect with like-minded
professionals and top names and faces in the Oracle community. We are so glad
you have chosen to join us this year!
We know how important it is to keep up with technology trends and stay ahead
of the curve on the latest developments to advance your organizations goals
and your career. As technologists ourselves, we appreciate the value of real-life
applications and best practices in conference education. COLLABORATE 16s
1,250+ education and networking sessions, as well as sessions and keynotes on
the topics of todays global economy, are user-focused and span multiple Oracle
products and industries.
Our week begins with a presentation of the results of an in-depth IOUG, OAUG and
Quest research project that focused on how members view Cloud, mobility, security
and Big Data today, their future plans and their collective concerns. Well find out
how these topics are shaping decisions for todays technology environments.
Everything-as-a-Service has had a significant impact on the economy and
requires exceptional IT leadership and a transformational mindset. On Wednesday
at 1 p.m., Oracle Senior Vice President Shawn Price provides his insight into the
adoption of a Cloud strategy and how to prepare your organization.
This is just a snapshot of the key topics available to dive into at COLLABORATE
16. Truly a creation for and by Oracle users, every element of the conference
experience is a collaboration between volunteers, presenters, exhibitors and
sponsors, all contributing time and expertise to create value for all participants.
Please thank them when you have the opportunity.
Please take time to note and share your experiences. We are committed to
continuing to improve and enhance COLLABORATE, and your feedback makes that
possible. You can complete session evaluations within the mobile app immediately
after attending each education session. Also, keep a close eye on your inboxes for
post-conference surveys and opportunities to share your opinions to help make
COLLABORATE 17 even better.
Have a fantastic week and make the most of this experience!

IBM Keynote
From Science Fiction to Science Fact: How Cognitive Computing and Cloud Transform Your BusinessTim Vanderham, VP Development, IBM Cloud Platform
We have entered a new period of computing history the
cognitive computing era. For decades, science fiction visionaries
have shared their renditions of intelligent machines and computers
that could learn and function as humans. Intelligent machines have
moved beyond the lore of science fiction; today, they are a reality
thanks to breakthroughs in cognitive computing.
This innovative capability is becoming ubiquitous in our everyday lives and fundamentally changing
how we perform our jobs, engage with others, learn and make decisions. You might be tempted
to think that harnessing the power of cognitive computing requires advanced degrees and deep
knowledge of complex algorithms. But, youll be surprised to see the many different ways that
organizations of all shapes and sizes can use cognitive computing as a key driver of transformation.
Opening Keynote
Trends & Technology Shaping Your FutureJoe McKendrick, an independent researcher affiliated with
Database Trends and Applications, a Division of Information Today,
Inc., delivers a thought-provoking presentation on how Cloud,
Mobility, Security and Big Data/Internet of Things are shaping
decisions for todays on-premises environments.
His presentation draws from the results of the recently completed,
in-depth IOUG, OAUG and Quest research project that focused on
identifying how members view these key topics today, their future
plans and their collective concerns.
This kick-off session will set the pace for COLLABORATE 16, spark many conversations over the
course of the conference, and deliver new insights to take back to your organization.

Re-Energize SessionBoris Brott, Opera & Symphony Conductor
Come explore how organizations and symphony orchestras are
alike through this truly interactive experience with Boris Brott. Both
organizations and symphonies have common goals, each must
perform in harmony to achieve goals and each continually strive
for perfection. Boris draws out the juxtaposition of teamwork and
leadership, the need for creativity within an organization; the joy of
communication and the achievement of success. All are explored
through the medium of music.
Boris Brott is one of the most internationally recognized Canadian
conductors, holding major posts as music director in Canada and
the United States. He enjoys an international career as guest conductor, educator, motivational
speaker and cultural ambassador. Currently, Boris is Conductor and Music Director of the New
West Symphony in California, the McGill Chamber Orchestra in Montreal, Canada, the National
Academy Orchestra of Canada and Principal Youth and Family Conductor of the National Arts Center
of Canada. He is also Artistic Director of the Brott Musical Festivals, Ontarios principal classical
orchestra music festival.
