Last Time Out Against New HampshireLisa Plenderleith made 41 saves in her collegiate debut as the Raiders fell 1-0 to then-No. 3/4 New Hampshire, Oct. 12 at the Whittemore Center. It was the most saves made by a Colgate goalie in her first career game since Jen Burtaw made 44 stops against St. Lawrence in 1999. The two teams played nearly 58 minutes of scoreless hockey, as Colgate did a great job of keeping UNH at bay by forecheck and by clearing the puck out of the zone. The Wildcats outshot the Raiders 14-3 in the first period and 17-7 in the second, and Colgate had 13 shots to UNH’s 11 in the final period.

Colgate/New Hampshire Connections Beth Rotenberg and Martina Garland both call Toronto home, while Kiira Dosdall and Raylen Dziengelewski are Loomis Chaffee grads. Hunt, Sass Headline ECAC Hockey Weekly AwardsA pair of Raiders were selected as ECAC Hockey Weekly Award Honorees by the league office on Monday, Oct. 20. Sam Hunt was named Player of the Week, while Kimberly Sass was named Rookie of the Week. This is the second time Hunt has been honored with the league award, although she has been named honorable mention on 16 occasions. This is the first league award for Sass. Hunt scored the eventual game-winning goal and added an assist in the Raiders’ 3-1 win versus Niagara Friday (Oct. 17) at Starr Rink. She also netted a power play goal and an unassisted goal in Colgate’s 7-1 victory over Niagara Saturday (Oct. 18). With four points over the weekend Hunt became Colgate’s all-time leading Division I scorer with 113 points. Sass won her first collegiate start in net for Colgate, as they downed Niagara 7-1 on Saturday. Sass displayed a solid performance in net coming up with big saves, while back boning a defense that was 7-for-7 in penalty kills. Sass made a total of 19 saves, including nine in the second period to earn the victory. This marks the second straight season a Colgate freshman goaltender has earned honors after her first call of duty. Last season Lisa Plenderleith was named the USCHO National Defensive Player of the Week after recording 41 saves during her collegiate debut versus New Hampshire. Plenderleith earned ECAC honorable mention for Goalie of the Week for her performance in net on Friday against Niagara. Plenderleith held the Purple Eagles scoreless for nearly 56 minutes and recorded 22 saves in the Raiders 3-1 victory.
