Frank Snyder is Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, located on US 12 betweenColdwater and Quincy, 517-639-4239, www.cbcquincy.com..
“For we are not as many, which corrupt theword of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God,in the sight of God speak we in Christ.”
(II Corinthians 2:17)We have the idea that money grubbing prosperity preachers are something new to this age. But reli-
gious hucksters were rampant even in the first century church. Hence, Paul warns of those who would“corrupt the word of God.” That word translated “corrupt” was used of peddlers, conmen and hucksterswho would say and do anything to make a sale. They were the snake oil salesmen of the ancient world.Religious peddlers in that day and this sell a message to make some “sanctimoney”. These are people
who will take any lengths with the Word of God in order to gain a following, increase the crowd sizeand create a religious market. Paul distinguishes himself by saying that he and his co-workers speak and do ministry in sincerity “of
God and in the sight of God”. The Latin saying, “Coram Deo” -“before the face of God” portrays theworshipful mentality that always remembers that God is ever present and observing everything we do.We are always under his gaze. We are to live life and do ministry with a consciousness of Him. Lifeand ministry is regulated by this. It means that we both highly regard the Word of God and revere theGod of the Word.

To The People OfSherwood Township
To retain our excellent and experiencedsupervisor the time is now urgent for thevoters of Sherwood Township to write inJames Smith’s name on your ballot. Jimis someone that has already given the peo-ple of our township (and sometimes oth-ers) his attention and the opportunitiey tobe heard. At morning meetings, phonecalls, text messages, and in person. Jim issomeone with sound principles andknowledge of our area and government.
The group “Concerned Citizens ofBranch County” is now on Facebookagain with half truths and inneundoesabout Jim. It is just shameful what somepeople will do or say behind others backs, but not to their face. So, when you vote locate the township
supervisor on the front of the ballot in thelower right corner. Next write JamesSmith’s name on the blank line. Then fillin the oval after Jame’s name.
Thanking you so much in advance,Dick Morrill
