- On Wednesday, we are going to have a peaceful protest during school and after school to say to the world, COJOWA STANDS UP TO BULLYING!
- All students and parents are going to sign an anti-bullying contract as a promise to end bullying behavior.

What is “bullying”?

repeated over time. It is meant to hurt someone else.

Bullying can be… Verbal Physical

Student and Parent Agreement Everyone has the right to feel physically and emotionally safe at COJOWA. If everyone takes a stand against bullying, we can help make COJOWA a safe place for everybody. All members of COJOWA are expected to demonstrate R.E.A.C.H.E.S. and respect one another’s differences. Definition of bullying:
- Intentional, aggressive behavior that is often repeated over time. - Can be verbal, physical, nonverbal, or cyber (or any combination of these). - Involves an imbalance of power. - Can consist of one child bullying another or a group of children against one lone child.
Student’s responsibility: I promise that I will not bully my peers. I will stand up for what is right. When I witness bullying, I will be assertive and report it to an adult. I know that whether I am being a bully, supporting a bully, or passively watching someone get bullied, it is my responsibility to stop it.

Parent’s responsibility: I understand that I have a responsibility to encourage my child to always respect others. I commit to also respect all other adults (parents and staff) at COJOWA. I have instructed my child not to bully. I have advised my child to report any bullying to an adult.

We understand that Bullying will result in predictable and escalating consequences:
1st Offense: Incident investigated by administration (Mr. Glab, Ms. Gloria, and Ms. Angie) followed by a student conference and parent notification. Incident documented in file.
2nd Offense: Incident investigated by administration. Fun Friday detention will be assigned and student/parent conference scheduled with administration. An individual plan is developed and then signed by student, parent and administration.
3rd Offense: Incident investigated by administration. Student will be assigned an in-school suspension. Student/parent conference scheduled with administration to review individual plan.
Any severe situation will result in a student being sent immediately to the office. Severe behaviors may lead to more serious consequences according to COJOWA policies.
