Code.Org – Computer Science Why Computer Science? Every 21st-century student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. The basics help nurture creativity and problem-solving skills, and prepare students for any future career. Code.org had developed elementary school free of charge curriculum that allows even the youngest learner to explore the limitless world of computer science. Code.org is hosting a no-cost, one-day workshop that consists of courses that blend online, guided self-paced tutorials with “unplugged” classroom activities that require no computer. The workshop will cover courses 1-3 and offer all the supplies needed to teach the courses. What’s in a workshop? In-person instruction from an experienced computer science facilitator, including an intro to computer science, pedagogy, overview of the online curriculum, teacher dashboard, and strategies for teaching “unplugged” classroom activities.
