Hotondo Homes Ocean Grove’sAllie Barker swapped her powersuit for goggles and a swimmer’scap for a 21-kilometre fundraisingswim with Boroughcoutas MastersSwimming Club.

Ms Barker said the joint venturehad so far raised enough moneyfor 121 mosquito nets fordistribution to African countries.

Malaria kills almost 1.5 millionpeople every year, with childrenunder five accounting for 70 percent of the deaths, she said.

“The mosquito net is the easiestand most effective way to preventmalaria and it’s amazing thedifference it can make to a child’swellbeing,” Ms Barker said.

“As a member of theBoroughcoutas, I thought it was agood opportunity to get Hotondo

Homes involved to help raisemoney for the cause.

Ms Barker said the World SwimAgainst Malaria was an initiative of
